The future is for riders! Our growing Perception team is searching for an Engineering Manager for the Perception Occupancy and Rare Events team. Our perception stack is responsible for building Zoox’s world-class 3D environment model from multi-modal sensor data. We create novel AI architectures that combine the latest academic results with many in-house innovations in creative ways. Our algorithms are relentlessly optimized and tuned to run efficiently and effectively on a wide variety of real-life data as well as in simulation. You will be responsible for leading high-impact Perception teams with their technical roadmap and milestone goals. You will be closely collaborating with other AI teams including Simulation, Sensor and Hardware, and Systems Design and Mission Assurance teams to deliver an exceptional objects occupancy perception system encompassing modalities such as vision, lidar, radar and long-wave IR. You will lead a diverse, experienced team with a rapidly growing scope and responsibility while also working on some of the most complex problems in artificial intelligence, perception, and sensor fusion. This is a foundational 0-to-1 role: you'll define the anti-abuse roadmap, hire a small team of engineers and data analysts, and ship the systems that protect Replit's platform, users, and economics from adversarial actors. The Program Management Office (PMO) at Zoox is responsible for driving cross-functional program planning and execution at the highest level. We partner with leaders from across the company in vehicle development, system design, software engineering, manufacturing, fleet operations, and business functions to develop and deliver major corporate milestones on the path to launch, and beyond. Our program managers contribute to the end-to-end success of technical, integrated product milestones involving both of our vehicle platforms - the Toyota Highlander test fleet and Zoox's purpose-built robotaxi. As a Technical Program Manager (TPM) for Core Autonomy Capabilities in PMO, you will own the portfolio of programs launching fundamental new autonomy and safety capabilities: fail-operational architectures, the next generation of the perception and motion planning stack, learned scene understanding and behavior models, collision avoidance, and the guidance and routing capabilities that expand where the vehicle can drive. These are new capabilities rather than refinements of shipped ones, and they sit on the critical path to launch. This is a high-leverage, high-visibility portfolio role. Rather than a single subsystem, you will own several capability programs running concurrently, partnering with the TPMs who drive them and driving programs directly where no dedicated owner exists. Perception data is core to how Zoox’s robotaxis understand the world, and as Senior Manager of Perception Data, you will own the flywheel that turns that data into safer, smarter driving. You will lead our perception data organization, spanning data science, data engineering, and data labeling, and own how we mine logs, automate annotation, feed high value data into our models, and close the loop through analysis and measurement. The most valuable examples in our corpus are often the hardest to find: rare behaviors, unusual interactions, safety critical events, and the long tail of real world urban driving. Your role is not only to build the systems that process this data, but to decide what data matters and why, and to build the learning loop that lets Zoox improve model performance faster. This is an opportunity for a leader who blends strategic thinking with strong execution, has done it before at scale, and knows how to partner with ML leaders, metrics pipelines, and infrastructure teams.
