Staff+ Software Engineer, Kubernetes Platform

About Anthropic Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems. About the role We run one of the industry's largest AI compute fleets, spanning multiple cloud providers and datacenters, to train, research, and serve frontier AI models. Those fleets run on Kubernetes, and the Kubernetes Platform team owns the control plane that makes them work. We are operating at a scale where the defaults stop working. We own the scheduler and extend it to place topology-sensitive ML workloads across thousands of accelerators at once. We scale the control plane itself — apiserver, etcd, controllers — so it stays responsive as object counts and node counts grow by orders of magnitude. And we build the core cluster services every workload depends on, like service discovery, so they hold up under the same pressure. We make sure the control plane is fast, correct, and always available. Your work will directly determine whether Anthropic can keep reliably and safely training frontier models as our compute footprint continues to grow. Key responsibilities Own, operate, and extend the Kubernetes scheduler for Anthropic's accelerator fleets, including custom scheduling plugins and policies for gang scheduling, topology awareness, and preemption Scale the Kubernetes control plane (apiserver, etcd, controller-manager) to support clusters far beyond typical limits, and find the next bottleneck before it finds us Design, build, and operate core cluster services such as service discovery that every workload in the fleet depends on Build and maintain custom controllers, operators, and CRDs Partner with research, training, and inference to understand workload shapes and turn their requirements into platform capabilities Collabo

About the Role The Cloud Infrastructure team owns the foundational cloud primitives and deployment models that power Perplexity's products, from multi-tenant public cloud to single-tenant and on-premises solutions for enterprise customers. As Perplexity grows its Computer and Enterprise products, this team builds and operates the security, isolation, and compliance layers that customers depend on. We provide the deployment topologies, multi‑region infrastructure, and core services that enable Perplexity to run reliably and efficiently for both consumer traffic and large enterprises. Key Responsibilities Own the roadmap and technical strategy for agent-driven cloud infrastructure management. Design and operate Perplexity’s cloud networking fabric, including VPC architectures, private connectivity, and peering with hyperscalers and neocloud providers to support low-latency, high-throughput AI workloads. Architect and scale compute platforms (Kubernetes/EKS, autoscaling groups, and mixed CPU/GPU fleets) to efficiently serve online request traffic and background workloads across regions. Build and maintain secure, isolated deployment topologies for multi-tenant, single-tenant, and customer‑owned cloud (BYOC) environments, including cross-account networking, identity, and policy guardrails. Implement and evolve multi-region strategies for availability, failover, and data locality, including traffic routing, regional capacity planning, and disaster recovery playbooks. Partner with security to deliver enterprise controls such as BYOK/KMS integrations, network isolation, and auditability required for regulated customers. Develop automation, tooling, and runbooks that make day‑2 operations (provisioning, upgrades, incident response) predictable and repeatable for Perplexity products across all environments. Qualifications Deep experience designing and operating cloud infrastructure on AWS (VPC design, routing, security groups, load balancing, private connectivity). Strong ba

Who We Are About Stripe Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies — from the world's largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups — use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone's reach while doing the most important work of your career. About the Team The Core Change Management group is responsible for the systems that let every Stripe engineer ship code, configuration, and infrastructure changes safely and at high velocity. You will be embedded primarily on the Service Deployments team — the owners of Stripe's end-to-end code deployment platform — with regular collaboration with the Resource Automation and Feature Deployments teams. What Makes This Role Compelling You own the foundation of how Stripe ships software. The deployment platform sits in the critical path of every engineer's workflow at Stripe. The decisions you make affect thousands of deploys per day across hundreds of services, directly determining how fast and safely Stripe's product evolves. Technically rich, architecturally active. The team is executing several concurrent platform transformations: containerizing host-based services at scale, adding intelligent multi-service deploy pipelines, extending real-time anomaly detection to earlier stages of traffic shifts, and rebuilding deployment event infrastructure on top of a durable message bus. This is not maintenance work — the architecture is in motion. Broad surface area, real ownership. You will span the full stack from container scheduling and deployment orchestration business logic to the developer-facing internal platform UI. The problems are multi-layered: reliability, developer experience, performance, and safety all at once. Your judgment prevents incidents.
