Member of Technical Staff (Software Engineer, Cloud Infrastructure)

About the Role The Infrastructure team builds and operates the foundational systems behind Perplexity’s products. At Perplexity, infrastructure sits on the critical path of every answer, supporting real-time search, retrieval, model serving, and agent workloads where latency, reliability, and rapid iteration directly shape the user experience. This role is for strong infrastructure engineers whose experience spans multiple domains and who are energized by cross-cutting problems that do not fit neatly within a single platform team. You do not need to be a specialist in every area. Scope ranges from owning major production systems to setting technical direction across teams, leading complex infrastructure programs, and shaping infrastructure strategy across the organization. If a specialized Cloud Infrastructure, Storage Platform, Backend Platform, Data Platform, Connector Platform, or AI Acceleration role clearly matches your expertise and interests, apply directly to it. If your experience spans several infrastructure domains or you are most energized by cross-cutting systems problems, apply here. Submit one application, and we will consider you across the Infrastructure organization. Key Responsibilities Own cross-cutting infrastructure problems that span compute, storage, networking, data, deployment, and reliability, including eliminating bottlenecks across retrieval and serving paths, building shared abstractions across deployment environments, and resolving failure modes that cross platform boundaries. Design, build, and operate distributed infrastructure supporting Perplexity’s consumer, AI, and enterprise workloads, owning systems from architecture through production operation. Identify gaps between existing platforms and build shared abstractions, automation, and tooling that make infrastructure easier and safer to use. Improve system performance, availability, scalability, and cost-efficiency across online request traffic and background workloads. Debug com

About the Role The AI Acceleration team’s mission is to make Perplexity the best place to build and ship software with AI agents. We build the infrastructure that engineers and agents rely on, and develop new ways for agents to write, test, review, and ship code. Our work helps teams move from an idea to production faster, without compromising quality or reliability. We own the end-to-end development experience at Perplexity, from the environment where code is written to the systems that ship it to production. That includes local and cloud coding environments, build and test infrastructure, code review, and release management. We’re also building autonomous software development systems, where agents take on increasingly complex engineering work with explicit evaluation, verification, and safety controls. We own both the infrastructure these systems depend on and the workflows that make them useful. As an AI Acceleration Engineer, you’ll turn emerging agent capabilities into dependable systems used across Perplexity. You’ll work directly with engineers to understand where development slows down, experiment with new approaches, and take promising ideas through to production. This role combines systems engineering, developer experience, and hands-on agent development, with a direct measure of success: helping teams spend less time on delivery overhead and more time building products. Responsibilities Identify, prioritize, and deliver the highest-impact opportunities to accelerate how Perplexity builds and ships software with AI. Work directly with engineering and business teams to understand their workflows, constraints, and bottlenecks, and build solutions that address how they actually work. Build and operate the infrastructure that engineers and agents depend on, including development environments, build and test systems, code review, and release tooling. Make our codebases, systems, and internal knowledge easier for agents to navigate, understand, and use through b

About the Role The Backend Platform team is the backbone of Perplexity’s product reliability, scalability, and performance, enabling every product and AI team to build with confidence. This high‑impact group builds and maintains critical infrastructure, including backend systems for authentication, authorization, real-time data flows, service orchestration, and sandboxing, to ensure fast, reliable, and secure user experiences. By setting rigorous standards for code quality, uptime and performance, the Platform team ensures everyone at Perplexity can innovate at speed on top of a robust, well-architected foundation. Key Responsibilities Lead the design and implementation of our sandboxing platform to safely execute untrusted and user‑generated code while meeting strict performance and reliability requirements. Define and extend our RBAC and authorization primitives, ensuring they scale with new product capabilities and enterprise controls. Own key backend services involved in authentication and encryption flows (including BYOK‑related pieces), partnering with Security and Infra on defense‑in‑depth. Set the technical bar for backend platform design and operations, driving best practices in reliability, observability, and incident response for always‑on systems. Partner with product and AI teams to define clear platform interfaces, SLAs, and integration patterns so new features can reliably build on shared backend capabilities. Provide technical leadership across the backend platform area, mentoring other engineers and making long‑term architectural decisions that keep the foundation simple, secure, and evolvable. Qualifications Experience designing and building backend systems that run in production (typically 4+ years for mid-level, more for senior and staff). Strong system design skills, with a track record of creating efficient, reliable, and scalable architectures. Hands-on experience with modern infrastructure (for example AWS, Kubernetes, and related cloud techn

About the Role Perplexity is seeking a hands-on Software Engineer to build and evolve the software, automations, and systems that power our security operations. This role focuses on engineering security tools and internal AI-driven agents that improve detection and response, vulnerability management, and the overall security posture of our products and infrastructure. Responsibilities Design, build, and maintain software and automation that improves our detection and response program, including alert enrichment, triage workflows, and investigation tooling. Implement and enhance internal AI agents and security bots that assist with monitoring, investigations, reporting, and other security operation tasks. Develop and operate systems and workflows that support the bug bounty and vulnerability disclosure program, including intake, triage, prioritization, and remediation tracking. Partner with product and engineering teams to threat model new features and systems, propose mitigations, and add guardrails into designs and implementations. Contribute to secure-by-default libraries, services, and patterns that make it easy for teams to build secure features. Integrate security signals from cloud, endpoints, SaaS, and applications into cohesive pipelines and data models that support detection and analysis. Build automation to reduce manual work in incident response, containment, and remediation. Collaborate with security engineers and other software engineers to review designs and code, and to continuously improve our security tooling and platforms. Qualifications 4+ years of experience as a software engineer with significant time spent building security-related tools, platforms, or automations, or in a security engineering role with strong software development responsibilities. Proficiency in at least one major programming language (such as Python, Go, or TypeScript) and experience building production services, CLIs, or internal tools. Experience integrating with security-r
