Staff Software Engineer-Scheduling

About Anthropic Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems. About the Role Claude has your back. AIRE has Claude's. Help us keep Claude reliable for everyone who depends on it. AIRE (AI Reliability Engineering) partners with teams across Anthropic to improve reliability across our most critical serving paths -- every hop from the SDK through our network, API layers, serving infrastructure, and accelerators and back. We jump into the trenches alongside partner teams to make the systems that deliver Claude more robust and resilient, be it during an incident or collaborating on projects. Reliability here is an emergent phenomenon that transcends any single team's boundaries, so someone has to zoom out and look at the whole picture. That's us -- and it means few teams at Anthropic offer this kind of dynamic, cross-cutting exposure to the systems that matter most. Responsibilities Develop appropriate Service Level Objectives for large language model serving systems, balancing availability and latency with development velocity. Design and implement monitoring and observability systems across the token path. Assist in the design and implementation of high-availability serving infrastructure across multiple regions and cloud providers Lead incident response for critical AI services, ensuring rapid recovery, thorough incident reviews, and systematic improvements. Support the reliability of safeguard model serving -- critical for both site reliability and Anthropic's safety commitments. You may be a good fit if you Have strong distributed systems, infrastructure, or reliability backgrounds -- we're looking for reliability-minded software engineers and SREs. Are curious and brave -- comfortable jum

About the role: Our Inference team is responsible for building and maintaining the critical systems that serve Claude to millions of users worldwide. We bring Claude to life by serving our models via the industry's largest compute-agnostic inference deployments. We are responsible for the entire stack from intelligent request routing to fleet-wide orchestration across diverse AI accelerators. The team has a dual mandate: maximizing compute efficiency to serve our explosive customer growth, while enabling breakthrough research by giving our scientists the high-performance inference infrastructure they need to develop next-generation models. We tackle complex, distributed systems challenges across multiple accelerator families and emerging AI hardware running in multiple cloud platforms. As a Staff Software Engineer on our Inference team , you will work end to end, identifying and addressing key infrastructure blockers to serve Claude to millions of users while enabling breakthrough AI research. Strong candidates should have familiarity with performance optimization, distributed systems, large-scale service orchestration, and intelligent request routing. Familiarity with LLM inference optimization, batching strategies, and multi-accelerator deployments is highly encouraged but not strictly necessary. Strong candidates may also have experience with: High-performance, large-scale distributed systems Implementing and deploying machine learning systems at scale Load balancing, request routing, or traffic management systems LLM inference optimization, batching, and caching strategies Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP) Pytho

Toast creates technology to help restaurants and local businesses succeed in a digital world, helping business owners operate, increase sales, engage customers, and keep employees happy. We are hiring a Staff Software Engineer to join our data platform (AAP) team in Dublin. The AAP team owns the foundational data infrastructure that powers Toast's analytics products and AI/ML capabilities: real-time streaming pipelines, a cloud-native data lakehouse, feature serving for ML-driven product experiences, and the infrastructure that enables product teams across Toast to build intelligent, data-driven experiences for our 170,000+ restaurant customers. We are in the middle of a significant platform evolution: migrating to Apache Iceberg, standing up a new Feature Store, conducting Databricks evaluations, and scaling our streaming infrastructure to meet the demands of a rapidly growing business. As a Staff Software Engineer, you'll be the technical lead for major parts of this evolution. You'll design and lead the delivery of platform capabilities that several teams depend on, doing deep hands-on work and making design calls that account for streaming, storage, serving, and the teams consuming them. You'll be the go-to expert in your area of the platform, working with product and engineering partners inside and outside our line of business. You'll make the engineers around you better through mentorship, design reviews, and the example you set. Success looks like other engineering teams moving faster because of the platform you help build. A day in the life (Responsibilities) Lead the delivery of significant data platform capabilities, from early design through production rollout, across the AAP team and the teams that depend on it Work hands-on with Kotlin/Java, Spark, Iceberg, and our streaming infrastructure, diagnosing performance, reasoning through trade-offs, and writing the code that sets the pattern for others Anticipate how requirements will change and design

About the Role As a Staff Infrastructure Engineer on the Compute & Storage Platform team in Toast, you will design, build, and operate the foundational distributed systems powering the Toast platform as the company expands into further international markets and broadens its product offerings to encompass retail shopping. You will bridge the gap between core infrastructure and cutting-edge product development—building low-latency state and storage systems, scalable compute clusters, and high-throughput streaming pipelines. Your work will directly enable Toast product delivery across our Product Development Life Cycle (PDLC). For this role it is a requirement that you have at least 8+ years of industry experience. Key Responsibilities Online Databases and Storage: Architect, deploy, and manage low-latency, highly available storage solutions (RDS Postgres and Aurora Postgres; DynamoDB; OpenSearch; S3) to power applications across the Toast product ecosystem. High Availability & Realtime Performance: Ensure sub-second end-user latency, near-zero-downtime reliability, and high throughput across storage engines to support Toast's products across POS, phone, computer, drive-thru, and kiosk interfaces. Infrastructure for AI-Driven PDLC: Automate infrastructure provisioning and compute pipelines. Cost Optimization & Performance Engineering: Right-size compute/storage resources, implement auto-scaling policies, and manage AWS infrastructure costs without compromising platform reliability or latency SLAs. Required Qualifications 1. Core Infrastructure & Automation Cloud & Infrastructure as Code: Hands-on experience building and managing scalable cloud infrastructure on AWS using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.). Software Development: Fluency in Python , Go , or a similar language for infrastructure automation, tooling, or backend development. 2. Storage & Compute Operations Databases: Deep experience operating and tuning en
