About the role As a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) focused on Inference & Post-Training, you will be a hands-on technical partner to our most strategic customers — production AI teams looking to leverage high quality models and do inference at scale. For us, FDE is not a replacement for a Solutions Architect; you will partner with our SAs as a deep-domain specialist in inference optimization, fine-tuning pipelines, and production deployment. As key contributors to both the CX, Engineering, and Sales organizations, FDEs add tremendous value by ensuring we can meet the requirements of our most complex POCs, facilitate successful platform adoption, and guide tailored optimization efforts — directly impacting customer success, company growth, and the hardening of our core platform. Must be a permanent resident or citizen of Singapore. Responsibilities Inference Engine Optimization: Select, configure, and optimize inference engine based on hardware, model architecture, and workload profile Configuration & Performance Tuning: Develop configuration updates to win critical POCs, benchmarks, and optimize customer deployments; tune KV cache, apply speculative decoding, determine optimal tensor parallelism, and determine quantization strategy to hit throughput and latency targets. Post-Training & Fine-Tuning: Drive hands-on RL training runs and optimize system design; guide customers through LoRA, SFT, DPO, RLHF, and GRPO pipelines from experimentation through production. Strategic Customer Alignment: Act as the primary technical point of contact for aligned strategic accounts — monitoring and optimizing endpoint configurations, helping customers get the most out of the platform, and collaborating to ensure we hit critical milestones. Opinionated Onboarding: Establish direct alignment with strategic customers at onboarding; ensure the right inference and post-training configurations are in place from day one to improve time-to-value. Product Feedback Loop: D

We hire builders who see the cracks in enterprise agent identity that everyone else has learned to live with. The Role You are the most senior technical field authority for agent identity at Okta. Where a Senior FDE owns the outcome inside one account, you own the patterns that every account and every FDE inherits. You take the hardest and most strategic deployments yourself, set the reference architecture the team builds from, and turn what the field learns into the direction the product takes. You still write code. You also multiply the people around you, and you are the person product and engineering leadership call when an agent identity problem has no precedent. Responsibilities Own the reference architecture. Define the canonical agent identity, delegation, audit, and kill-switch patterns that Senior FDEs deploy across the portfolio, and keep them current as the standards and the product move. About Us: AI needs a new infrastructure layer. We're building it at Modal. Every era of computing brought new workloads that previous infrastructure couldn't support: mainframes, databases, and the cloud. Each time, the company that rebuilt the layer underneath defined the decade. AI is no different, except it touches everything instead of one slice, and the window to build the layer underneath it is open right now. Our customers include category-defining companies like Lovable , Ramp , Cognition, DoorDash, and Suno. They rely on Modal for instant GPU access, sub-second container starts, and native storage, so it's simple to serve low-latency inference, fine-tune models, and access production-ready sandboxes at scale. We recently raised a $355M Series C at a $4.65B valuation, led by General Catalyst and Redpoint Ventures. We've crossed $300M+ ARR and grown fivefold since September. Our team includes creators of popular open-source projects (e.g., Seaborn , Luig i ), academic researchers, international olympiad medalists, and experienced engineering and product leaders with decades of experience. The Role: We're looking for Forward Deployed ML Engineers who want to work at the intersection of deep technical work and direct customer impact. As an ML FDE, you'll partner with leading AI companies and foundation model labs to help them achieve state-of-the-art performance on their most demanding workloads — LLM serving, model training (SFT, RLHF), audio pipelines, scientific computing, and more. You're helping teams reach outcomes most engineers can't on their own. The FDE team today includes world-class software engineers, computational scientists, ML engineers, and former founders. We're looking for people with strong engineering fundamentals, deep curiosity across the AI stack, and energy for working directly with customers on hard problems. You will: Work hands-on with companies like Suno, Lovable, Cognition, and Meta to architect and optimize production AI workloads

About the team OpenAI’s Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE) team turns research breakthroughs into production-grade systems. We embed deeply with customers to solve high-leverage problems and act as the delivery engine for our most complex large-scale engagements. We move quickly from prototype to production and surface reusable patterns that shape our platform. We operate at the intersection of deployment and development – working closely with OpenAI Research, Product and Partnerships. About the Role As a Technical Deployment Lead (TDL), you will define how OpenAI delivers complex systems to customers. You will own how they are built, shipped, and adopted. You’ll translate business outcomes into a technical plan, run day-to-day execution across FDEs, Researchers, and Customer Engineers, and partner with customer teams to ensure delivery supports their goals. You will own delivery end-to-end: embedding with customers to map workflows and success criteria, ensuring components ship on time, and leading readiness and change management for adoption. You’ll track progress, manage dependencies, make sequencing decisions, and drive 0→1 prototypes through MVP and scale. You will also share field insights with Product and Research to guide roadmap and priorities. Success will be measured first and foremost by impact - deployments that deliver measurable value against customer goals, drive adoption, and become critical to their workflows. Additional measures of success include delivery reliability (milestones hit, low reopen/churn), operating leverage (patterns reused across deployments), judgment under pressure, and product impact (field signal that shifts roadmaps/architectures). This is a high-trust, high-autonomy role. Success requires deep technical project management expertise, extreme ownership of outcomes, and an ability to immerse in customer workflows and partner with customer teams to solve complex engineering problems at pace. This role is based in San Francisco. W
