About the team Stripe's Marketplaces product team sits inside Money Management Services (MMS) and owns the financial infrastructure that marketplace platforms use to move money between buyers, sellers, and themselves. Marketplaces are structurally different from direct merchants: money doesn't just flow from a buyer to a single seller—it splits, routes, holds, gets reserved, crosses currencies, and arrives in dozens of countries through a chain of platform decisions. The fund flow problem is not fully solved industry-wide; platforms still hit rough edges at scale around multi-currency, cross-border operations, and multi-processor reconciliation. By solving these problems, we create durable switching costs and make Stripe the obvious choice for the next generation of marketplace businesses.
