About the Team The Platform Analytics team builds the systems OpenAI researchers use to understand the quality and behavior of the models we train including what models are doing, why they behave in a particular way, and how that behavior changes across experiments. Neptune is a core part of this work. It ingests, stores, queries, and visualizes large volumes of metrics from pretraining, post-training, and reinforcement learning. Hundreds of researchers depend on these systems in their daily work to compare experiments, debug unexpected behavior, and decide what to try next. Our scope is broader than metrics. We also build platforms that help researchers analyze samples, traces, evaluation results, and other structured or unstructured data through dashboards, APIs, and increasingly agent-driven workflows. These systems need to remain fast, reliable, and understandable as the scale and complexity of research change quickly. We are not trying to become a consulting team that builds a separate solution for every research project. We work directly with researchers to understand recurring problems, then turn them into reusable infrastructure and platform capabilities that many teams can build on. About the Role We’re looking for a hands-on experienced software engineer who can take ownership of a critical system and drive it from problem definition through production adoption. This person should be able to own a platform such as CacheHouse end to end: define its technical direction, design its data model and storage architecture, integrate it with several research dashboards and workflows, guide one or two engineers, and ensure the system works reliably for its users. The right candidate should already bring the technical judgment, ownership, and execution expected at this level. The primary learning curve should be OpenAI’s stack and research problem space, not learning how to lead a complex engineering effort or deliver a production system. You will work directly with

About the Role As a member of the Data team within the Go-to-Market organization, you will help build a data-driven culture, improve decision-making, and advance strategic initiatives through analytics. This is a full-stack data role spanning data modeling, metric definition, visualization, analysis, and self-service tooling. You will build trusted, scalable data sources and products that give the business reliable, actionable insights. The work calls for judgment: you will choose the tool, approach, and level of investment that best fit each problem, from a focused analysis to a durable production data product. As a core partner to the GTM organization, you will address both foundational and ad hoc analytics needs. You will turn complex data into clear narratives that help technical and non-technical audiences understand what is happening, why it matters, and what they should do next. In this role, you will: Partner closely with GTM teams to proactively identify high-impact questions and translate business needs into data models, metrics, analyses, and scalable technical solutions. Define, source, validate, and operationalize the metrics that guide the business, helping teams incorporate them into planning and day-to-day decisions. Lead cross-functional data projects across established and emerging business areas, including setting the data strategy for greenfield domains. Build scalable data models and pipelines that integrate and transform data from multiple sources into trusted, accessible datasets. Create dashboards, reports, analytical tools, and other data products that enable stakeholders to answer questions independently. Own the lifecycle of metrics, analytical models, and data products from initial exploration and prototyping through production and ongoing maintenance. Choose the most effective approach for each problem—whether an analysis, metric, data model, visualization, or self-service product—based on the audience, urgency, complexity, and expected
About the Team The Foundations Research team works on high-risk, high-reward ideas that could shape the next decade of AI. Our goal is to advance the science and data that enable our training and scaling efforts, with a particular focus on future frontier models. Pushing the boundaries of data, scaling laws, optimization techniques, model architectures, and efficiency improvements to propel our science. The Search team sits within Foundations, building agentic search by co-designing model–system interfaces with the core search stack (serving, indexing, retrieval) to translate model intent into reliable, real-world actions. Operating at the frontier of AI and information retrieval, the team develops large-scale systems that transform and index vast corpora, enabling models to reason over global knowledge and act dependably. In close partnership with researchers, we rapidly bring modeling breakthroughs into production and redefine how intelligent systems discover, retrieve, and synthesize information at planetary scale. About the Role We’re looking for a Software Engineer focused on building and scaling retrieval systems. You’ll work with a team of researchers and engineers to develop infrastructure that enables models to retrieve and act on the right information at the right time. This includes designing and operating indexing systems, retrieval pipelines, and serving layers. This work supports retrieval across OpenAI products and research, with direct impact on system performance, reliability, and scale. Responsibilities Build and scale retrieval infrastructure across indexing, serving, and query execution. Develop low-latency, high-throughput systems for real-time model interaction. Partner with research to productionize embedding and retrieval techniques. Support dense, sparse, and hybrid retrieval pipelines. Own system performance, reliability, and observability at scale. Collaborate across Pretraining, Inference, and Product teams to integrate retrieval end-to-e
About the Team Safety Systems manages the complete lifecycle of safety efforts for OpenAI’s frontier models, ensuring our models are deployed responsibly and have a positive impact on society. Our work spans diverse research and engineering initiatives—from system-level safeguards and model training to evaluation and red-teaming—all aimed at mitigating misuse and maintaining our high bar for safety. We lead OpenAI's commitment to developing and deploying safe Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), fostering a culture of trust, responsibility, and transparency. Our goal is to continuously learn from deployments, distribute AI’s benefits widely, and ensure that powerful tools remain aligned with human values and safety considerations. About the Role The Safety Measurement Product Manager owns OpenAI's approach to measuring harm and safeguard efficacy in production, including driving the strategy for our suite of safety measurement platforms and products used across the company. You will partner closely with our safety research and engineering teams to determine what we measure, where we measure it, and how we measure it, feeding those insights directly into critical leadership decisions and back into our safety work. You will also represent the company's topline safety metric as well as prioritize incoming requests from partner teams to expand our safety measurement platform to more use cases. This position is based in San Francisco, CA, with relocation assistance available. In this role, you will: Partner closely with data science, research, engineering, policy teams, and other stakeholders to craft a vision for understanding safety outcomes and prevalence on our platforms. Define strategic priorities and product roadmaps focused on improving safety measurement approaches will scaling our measurement platform to more use cases, products, and cross-functional team needs. Establish repeatable processes to integrate cutting-edge AI safety research into OpenAI’s safety m
