Today, there is no quantitative control of dye viscosity (and/or temperature), so “low viscosity” is assumed but not verified. This internship project will establish a practical viscosity measurement and control approach to improve confidence and repeatability of Dye & Pry results. Scope: 1. Develop a test plan to measure Dykem red dye viscosity across defined reuse counts 2. Identify and evaluate viscometer options suitable for low-viscosity Newtonian fluids with high sensitivity and minimal mechanical disturbance 3. Define a controlled measurement method (including temperature control/standardization, e.g., 25°C reference) and measurement repeatability checks 4. Correlate viscosity trends to Dye & Pry penetration quality indicators (e.g., penetration success rate / defect reveal quality using existing lab evaluation approach 5.
