Here's a summary of the role Data is only powerful when everyone agrees what it means. This is your chance to build a world class product behavioural data system and process from the ground up. We're rebuilding the internal product our teams use to measure product success and end-user value across all our 24+ products in four business units. You'll design the single source of truth: the metric definitions, the telemetry standards, the data contract engineering instruments against, the change governance processes and tooling, and the models that turn behaviour into portfolio insight. You'll educate and support the teams using this internal behavioural data product to set expectations and and plot a rational roadmap for the maturing of this product, helping our user to use the data honestly and wisely. Usage tells you what happened, not why, or whether it mattered. We want someone who sets quantitative behaviour against qualitative evidence and treats the disagreement as the interesting part. AWS/Snowflake is our spine; capture and BI are open decisions you'll help make. Your models feed the business reviews our executive team, CTO and investors use to run the portfolio, and engineering is committed to instrument against your contract. Here's what your first twelve months should look like First 90 days. Learn the estate, meet the engineers who instrument it, and agree the measurement model for one product end to end — with a defensible adoption number and the qualitative read on what it means. Three to six months. Data contract published, instrumentation spec landed with engineering, first business unit building against it. Definitions, naming and versioned change control governed. Six to twelve months. Rolling out across the remaining business units through the BU-aligned analysts, portfolio reporting running on your numbers. Here's a breakdown of what you'll do (not all
About the Team DoorDash’s GenAI Platform team sits within Machine Learning Platform and builds the shared infrastructure that helps DoorDash, Wolt, and Deliveroo teams safely bring GenAI-powered products, agents, automation, and personalization to production. Our mission is to increase the velocity of business impact from GenAI. A central pillar of that work is our evaluation platform — the unified evals backbone that lets teams measure, trace, and trust the quality of LLM and agent systems across the company, powering trace/score ingestion, LLM-as-judge workflows, agent simulations, and LLM observability for the tens of millions of daily requests flowing through our LLM Gateway. We also own core platform surfaces including the Agent Gateway, open-weights model serving and batch inference, guardrails, and cost attribution. About the Role You will join a small, high-leverage team building production infrastructure for Generative AI at DoorDash, with a primary focus on our evals and LLM observability platform: the systems that let teams evaluate, trace, and continuously improve the quality of LLM and agent products. You’ll work across evaluation frameworks and SDKs, OpenTelemetry-based trace/score ingestion, LLM-as-judge and offline/online eval pipelines, agent simulations, data pipelines, backend services, and observability. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys building reliable measurement and quality primitives in a fast-moving technical area where product needs, model capabilities, vendor ecosystems, and evaluation methodologies are evolving quickly. You’re excited about this opportunity because you will… Build the infrastructure that helps DoorDash teams move GenAI ideas from prototype to production, increasing the velocity of business impact from AI across the company. Work on our unified evals platform — evaluation SDKs, OpenTelemetry trace/score ingestion, LLM-as-judge, offline and online eval pipelines, and agent simulations — alongside the LLM Gatew
About the Team Our Safety Systems team is at the forefront of OpenAI's mission to build and deploy safe AGI, driving our commitment to AI safety and fostering a culture of trust and transparency. Within Safety Systems, the Model Policy team works to ensure that increasingly capable models behave safely and reliably in real-world environments. We investigate emerging model failures, define the behavior models should exhibit instead, and develop the data, evaluations, monitoring, and safeguards needed to improve and validate that behavior. Our work connects alignment research with the practical challenges of training and deploying frontier models. About the Role In this role, you will shape how OpenAI understands and addresses real-world risks that emerge from model misalignment as models become more autonomous and operate over longer horizons. You will investigate how misaligned behavior emerges across extended trajectories - including when models persist toward the wrong objective, take unsafe shortcuts, lose track of instructions, exploit weaknesses in their environment, or circumvent constraints - and translate these insights into behavioral policies, evaluations, monitoring, and safeguards. This role is ideal for someone who wants to turn alignment and safety concerns into concrete, empirically grounded improvements to frontier AI systems. Your Responsibilities: Identify vulnerabilities that emerge as models interact with tools, data, and external systems, and translate them into model- and system-level safeguards. Develop threat models and empirical frameworks for understanding harmful outcomes from misaligned behavior. Build frameworks for understanding harmful outcomes arising from model misalignment. Identify the underlying behaviors and system conditions that drive those outcomes. Turn findings into policy frameworks, evaluation criteria, online measurement and safeguards. Develop human data campaigns and gold sets to ground measurement and evaluation of eme
