MongoDB is looking for an outstanding person to join our newly created Forward Deployed Engineering team and take on a key role in our extended R&D organization. Forward Deployed Engineering is linking the work of teams engaged on application modernization roles with our Product and Engineering teams. We are looking to speak to candidates who are based in Dublin or Cork for our hybrid working model. Many organizations have built up large estates of legacy applications. Lack of scalability and resilience, long development times, operating cost, and inability to run on cloud are common issues with these applications. To address these issues, organizations are engaging in large transformational Application Modernisation programs. MongoDB is recognized as the developer data platform of choice for transactional systems that provide the best scalability, resiliency and developer experience in the cloud as well as on premises. Organizations are continuously migrating workloads from these legacy applications to new platforms, often based on microservices, using MongoDB. Such transformations are time intensive and often risky. Tooling based on generative AI promises to accelerate these transformations in a way never seen before. Forward Deployed Engineering is responsible for exploring the possibilities of Generative AI technologies and providing invaluable feedback to MongoDB’s R&D teams to drive future capabilities of MongoDB and the MongoDB ecosystem. Application Modernization Engineers will work alongside project teams that are executing Application Modernisation projects with customers. The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluation, build, and applying tools in modernization projects, facilitating the usage of such tools and processes across the different project teams, identifying opportunities for tooling deployment, selecting potential 3rd party tools, contributing to the development of tooling prototypes and helping to shape t

The Application Modernization Platform (AMP) team is tackling one of the industry's most critical challenges: leveraging Generative AI to transform rigid, legacy applications into modern, microservices-based architectures powered by MongoDB. We are building a comprehensive, SaaS-like platform, encompassing both the "brain" (multi-agent reasoning and orchestration) and the "hands" (the deployment platform and modernization toolset). This solution requires a robust platform foundation and infrastructure designed for a "build once, run anywhere" model, ensuring seamless operation regardless of a client's security or network constraints. A key challenge is balancing the need to tune our tools for each customer's unique tech stack and restrictive environments with making them easily extensible and scalable for common application modernization challenges. We seek an engineering leader for this high-visibility initiative. This role requires defining the high-level strategy and technical direction across all AMP engineering pillars, leading the execution of solving uniquely complex application modernization puzzles, and delivering an enterprise-grade product. The leader will minimize deployment friction, meet customer compliance requirements, and help shape the future of how global enterprises leverage GenAI. The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical leader who excels at leveraging GenAI capabilities, architecting complex distributed systems, and designing the orchestration agents necessary to reliably and fluidly run the entire software development lifecycle. This role will be based in North America's West Coast (PST), and offers a hybrid working model. MongoDB serves as the data layer powering the most important AI applications in the world today. This role exists to ensure the market knows what MongoDB does and to secure the next generation of builders before they default to another platform. The VP of AI Marketing Strategy & Ecosystem will shape the training data, documentation, integrations, and ecosystems that determine what gets built and how, thereby positioning MongoDB as the generational data platform for agentic applications. Builders and agents alike need to reach for MongoDB by default. That requires presence in the systems and tools that influence how applications get built, not just the channels that reach the humans building them. This position will report to the CMO and be part of the Marketing Leadership Team. The VP of AI Marketing Strategy & Ecosystem will work closely with the Chief Product Officers, Chief Technology Officer, Chief Customer Officer, and regional marketing leaders.
