About the Team OpenAI is building AI systems that can help professionals perform complex, high-value work with greater speed, rigor, and creativity. Investment banking is one of the most demanding environments for knowledge work: bankers must synthesize fragmented information, exercise judgment under pressure, and produce precise, defensible models, analyses, and client materials. Our team works across Research, Product, Engineering, and Go-to-Market to make OpenAI's models genuinely useful for these workflows. We translate real professional work into product requirements, evaluations, training signals, and repeatable customer solutions. We care not only whether a model can generate an answer, but whether it can deliver accurate, defensible work that experienced bankers can trust and use. This role is based in San Francisco, CA. We use a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees. About the Role We are looking for a Subject Matter Expert in Investment Banking to help define what excellent AI-assisted banking work looks like and turn that standard into better models and products. You will bring deep, current knowledge of how investment banking work is actually performed, including company and industry research, financial analysis and modeling, valuation, diligence, transaction execution, and the creation and review of client materials. You will use that expertise to design realistic tasks and evaluations, create and assess high-quality reference work, diagnose model failures, and help our technical teams improve model behavior and product experiences. This is a hands-on individual-contributor role for someone who enjoys both doing the work and explaining what makes it good. You should be comfortable moving between an Excel model, a presentation, a source document, an evaluation rubric, a product prototype, and a conversation with researchers or customers. You will help us distinguish outputs that merely look pl

ABOUT BASE LABS Base Labs is a research lab pushing the frontier of open-source LLMs. We think intelligence should be democratized, not controlled by a handful of closed labs and we think very few teams are actually positioned to do something about that. Backed by Baseten's training and inference infrastructure, we have the compute, resources, and talent to take on hard problems at the frontier and open-source what we learn along the way. Our mission is to help build a world where intelligence isn't concentrated, but spread across an ecosystem of models that anyone can build on. That mission shapes what we choose to work on, how we work on it, and who we want in the room. We are accepting applications on a rolling basis for our first cohort of Base Labs Fellows, which is expected to start in late September. Apply using this link. BASE LABS FELLOWSHIP OVERVIEW The Base Labs Fellowship is designed to give researchers exposure to what frontier research looks like in industry. We provide funding, mentorship, and full support to our fellows, with the goal of producing rigorous, published research that shapes both the open-source ecosystem and Baseten's technical roadmap. We run multiple cohorts of Fellows each year and review applications on a rolling basis. This application is for cohorts starting in Sept 2026 and beyond. Airbnb was born in 2007 when two hosts welcomed three guests to their San Francisco home, and has since grown to over 5 million hosts who have welcomed over 2 billion guest arrivals in almost every country across the globe. Every day, hosts offer unique stays and experiences that make it possible for guests to connect with communities in a more authentic way. The Community You Will Join: Airbnb is a vision and mission driven company, and our Product Managers embody that mindset. Platform PMs imagine the ideal end state for our community first, work backwards from it, and deliver it in a scalable way. The AI Assistant team owns the agentic AI system that powers Airbnb's support experience for millions of guests and hosts. This is one of the highest-visibility applied-AI efforts at the company, and it sits at the intersection of large language models, platform thinking, and a genuinely two-sided marketplace. The Difference You Will Make: You will own the platform that determines how our AI Assistant reasons, retrieves, and responds: the layer that interprets each request and routes it, the knowledge and capabilities the assistant draws on, the actions it can take to actually resolve an issue, and the evaluation systems that keep it safe and accurate at scale. You will own what a good outcome looks like for the user, and the criteria we measure it against, working through partners who own the underlying knowledge and the engineering implementation. This is a role where Product both directs technical work and does it themselves. You will diagnose architectural problems, author the artifacts that become production behavior, and help drive engineering and data science decisions alongside your key partners. Support is high-stakes: people reach out when something has gone wrong, often with another party involved. You will be responsible for making those moments accurate, safe, and genuinely helpful, increasing how often the assistant fully and correctly resolves
