Backend And System Engineer in New York

About Ramp Ramp is building the smart infrastructure for finance teams, embedded in the transaction flow of every dollar a business spends. We automate how over $200B in annualized spend flows in and out of 70,000+ companies: authorizing payments, flagging risk, categorizing spend, and closing books. The problems are high-stakes, data-dense, and unforgiving. We hire people with high agency and high urgency. We look for slope over intercept. We care less about where you trained and more about what you’ve built. At Ramp, everyone is a builder who owns problems end to end and makes consequential decisions that shape the outcome. The median Ramp customer saves 5% and grows revenue 16% in their first year – far in excess of businesses operating without Ramp. We believe every ambitious company deserves the same. If you want to build systems that directly shape how companies move and manage billions, Ramp is the place to do it. Ramp is building an AI-native platform that changes how Go-to-Market and Product Growth teams create, launch, and improve customer-facing experiences. We are looking for a product-minded backend engineer to help build the infrastructure and services that power modern growth and marketing at Ramp. The next chapter for this team is to build marketing-led products : intelligent tools that turn strategy into execution, automate complex workflows, and help teams operate across channels with dramatically more leverage. The team will build across creative production, lifecycle marketing, paid media, account-based marketing, experimentation, incentives, and cross-channel orchestration. Examples include AI-powered systems that produce on-brand campaign assets, automate complex marketing workflows, coordinate audiences and execution, and deliver personalized experiences across email, sales outreach, external channels, and Ramp’s product. A core part of this mandate is Ramp’s incentives platform. We are building shared infrastructure to safely target, authoriz

About Us: AI needs a new infrastructure layer. We're building it at Modal. Every era of computing brought new workloads that previous infrastructure couldn't support: mainframes, databases, and the cloud. Each time, the company that rebuilt the layer underneath defined the decade. AI is no different, except it touches everything instead of one slice, and the window to build the layer underneath it is open right now. Our customers include category-defining companies like Lovable , Ramp , Cognition, DoorDash, and Suno. They rely on Modal for instant GPU access, sub-second container starts, and native storage, so it's simple to serve low-latency inference, fine-tune models, and access production-ready sandboxes at scale. We recently raised a $355M Series C at a $4.65B valuation, led by General Catalyst and Redpoint Ventures. We've crossed $300M+ ARR and grown fivefold since September. Our team includes creators of popular open-source projects (e.g., Seaborn , Luig i ), academic researchers, international olympiad medalists, and experienced engineering and product leaders with decades of experience. The Role: We're looking for strong backend engineers who love building a developer tools used by the largest AI companies in the world. You’ll be building for things at scale, but also for new AI workflows that change every day. Requirements: Experience building and shipping modern web applications end-to-end. We care more about what you’ve built than how many years you’ve been building. Comfort working across the stack: TypeScript on the frontend, Python services on the backend, and ClickHouse for data and analytics. Deep knowledge of observability tools and patterns used for large-scale workloads such as custom sandboxes, training and inference for large language (LLM) and diffusion models. Experience with at least one of: billing/payments systems, B2B SaaS tooling, or enterprise software, or LLM / diffusion models inference and training loads. Strong product instincts; yo

Our ambition is to do for revenue velocity what Cursor and Claude Code did for engineering velocity. With Mutiny, everyone in sales and marketing gets a bench of GTM athletes that handle any work across their revenue motion and learn from what's actually moved their deals. In April we re-launched the product as an agent-first platform. Anthropic showcased us as a leader in AI GTM. MRR is growing more than 70% month-over-month, with customers like Uber, Rippling, and Snowflake. We're backed by Sequoia, YC, and Insight, and we're building a generational company. The opportunity Most engineers spend their career making predictable systems faster. You'll spend yours making non-deterministic ones trustworthy. As a senior engineer on our AI product team, you'll architect the Campaign Builder and Agent experiences marketers and sellers open every day to go from idea to personalized assets in minutes. You'll partner directly with product, design, and the founders to define what an agent-first GTM platform should feel like, and your calls on architecture, evals, and guardrails compound across thousands of customer accounts. This role is in person in New York City, five days a week, and we ship weekly. What you'll own The core agent surfaces. Architect and ship the Campaign Builder and Agent experiences end-to-end. Frontend, backend, prompts, evals, the whole stack. Reliability on top of LLMs. Make non-deterministic models feel deterministic at the surface. About the Role Over the past few years at Ramp, we've reimagined how businesses manage spend, and the backbone of that vision is Procure-to-Pay. The P2P team builds the systems that connect vendors, invoices, and payments into one seamless, automated flow. It's where billions of dollars move through our platform, and every line of code matters. We're looking for a backend engineer who loves complex systems, obsesses over correctness, and wants to shape how money moves in modern finance software. You'll help design and scale the infrastructure that powers our payment rails, ensures auditability across products, and unlocks the next wave of AI-driven automation. It's a chance to work on systems that actually move money, with a team that cares deeply about precision, reliability, and scale. The problems are tough, the stakes are high, and the impact is massive. Salary range: $300k - $350k | Equity: 0.4% - 0.6% | In-Person: NYC About Datalab Datalab trains models that read documents reliably at scale. The world's most important information is trapped in PDFs, scans, and files that can't easily be parsed, and getting it out correctly matters. From frontier AI labs processing training data to Fortune 500s like Siemens extracting decades of engineering records, Datalab is where businesses turn to when extraction has to be right. We’re at an 8-figure run rate with a team of 7. Anthropic is a customer. And we have hundreds more across FAANG, frontier AI labs, healthcare, finance, government, and legal. Our tools, Chandra, Surya, Marker, and Lift, have 70,000+ GitHub stars and broad developer mindshare. We're backed by founding members of OpenAI, FAIR, and Hugging Face. Role Overview We're looking for an engineering lead to guide our team while staying hands-on in the code. You'll set the technical direction and standards for how we build the interfaces, tools, and infrastructure behind our OCR, extraction, and document-understanding systems. This includes everything from optimizing agent loops and interfaces to helping to speed up inference. This is a player-coach role. You'll manage and grow a team of three engineers, own engineering delivery and quality, and spend a large share of your time writing code - focused on architecture, infrastructure, and the hard problems rather than routine feature work. You’ll partner closely with the research team to define the handoff between experimentation and production. As a small and fast-moving team, roles are fluid and ownership is high. You'll work directly with the founder to set priorities, ship features, and make our technology accessible to a global community of builders. Day to day, you will: Manage and grow a team of three engineers - 1:1s, prioritization, feedback, and hiring as we scale. Own engineering delivery, quality, and technical standards across code, testing, infrastruct
