Coder is looking for an AI Enablement Engineer to help execute our Smart AI roadmap and make AI and vibe coding easier across the company. You’ll work directly with employees to understand what they’re trying to build, answer questions about Smart AI best practices, and remove the technical or process barriers getting in their way. You’ll also turn those needs into shipped improvements. That means building and refining Smart AI journeys, reusable skills, paved paths, and infrastructure enhancements, while partnering closely with the Smart AI Program lead on roadmap execution. You’ll also teach through office hours and sessions, but most of your time will be spent listening, building, troubleshooting, and improving the system around our internal AI community. What you’ll do here Act as a hands-on technical partner for Coder employees using Smart AI, helping them understand best practices, choose the right approach, and work through blockers. Meet with employees across the company to understand their needs, requirements, workflows, and impediments as they build with AI. Answer questions in Slack, meetings, and working sessions about Smart AI tools, models, prompts, harnesses, development environments, and recommended patterns. Identify recurring needs across our internal AI community and translate them into clear requirements for the Smart AI roadmap. Execute against the existing Smart AI roadmap by building and improving reusable journeys, skills, templates, system instructions, and other paved paths. Contribute directly to infrastructure enhancements that make internal AI development easier, more reliable, and more consistent. Build alongside users when useful, using tools like Claude Code and other AI-assisted development workflows to prototype solutions and validate new approaches. Help improve the dedicated development environment employees use for vibe coding, including integrations, connectors, APIs, model access, and supporting infrastructure. Turn one-off que
About the Team The Safety Systems org is responsible for various safety work to ensure our best models can be safely deployed to the real world to benefit the society and is at the forefront of OpenAI's mission to build and deploy safe AGI, driving our commitment to AI safety and fostering a culture of trust and transparency. The Safety Engineering team builds the platforms and tools that make OpenAI’s models safe to use in the real world. We partner closely with researchers, product teams, and policy to turn safety ideas into reliable, scalable systems: measuring risk, enforcing safeguards, and continuously improving how models behave in production. Our work sits at the intersection of product engineering, data, and AI, and directly shapes how millions of people experience OpenAI’s technology. About the Role We’re looking for a self-starter engineer who loves building products in an iterative, fast-moving environment—especially internal tools that unlock real-world impact. In this role, you’ll build full-stack tooling for our Safety Systems teams that directly improves the safety and reliability of OpenAI’s models, including in sensitive areas like mental health and other vulnerable-user protections. Your work will increase the team’s velocity in identifying and fixing safety issues and help tighten the feedback loop between policy, data, and the model training cycle. In this role, you will: Own the end-to-end development of internal tools that help improve the safety of OpenAI’s models (with a focus on areas like mental health and other vulnerable-user protections) Partner closely with Safety Systems researchers, engineers, and model policy creators to understand workflows, pain points, and requirements—and translate them into durable product solutions Build full-stack experiences to support core model policy workflows, such as labeling and inspecting data, analyzing and reviewing failure cases, and surfacing insights for iteration Optimize internal applications f
About the Team The Core Services organization builds and runs the mission-critical online services that product teams rely on in production. We own foundational distributed systems and platform capabilities that enable reliable execution, high-performance services, and large-scale file/data needs across our products. This team is distinct from developer infrastructure and data infrastructure—our focus is production service foundations and core runtime services. About the Role We’re hiring an Engineering Manager, Core Services to help lead teams responsible for highly reliable, high-scale distributed systems that sit on the critical path for OpenAI products. Your team will own foundational production systems that OpenAI’s product engineering teams build on. You’ll collaborate closely with product and infrastructure partners to ship reliable services quickly, and help scale systems and teams as OpenAI grows. You’ll partner closely with senior engineering leaders to scale the org, mature operations, and drive major platform initiatives. This role requires strong technical ability. You’ll be responsible for: Managing and growing a high-performing team of infrastructure engineers. Leading teams building and operating large, critical production platforms, including cluster reliability, scaling, and rollout safety. Building and operating mission-critical distributed systems with strong operational rigor (SLOs, incident response, capacity planning, reliability). Setting technical direction for platform foundations such as workflow/orchestration capabilities, large-scale file/blob/storage services, and core service foundations. Partnering with a broad set of stakeholders, including product engineering, adjacent infrastructure teams, and (where relevant) finance/cost partners. Coaching, mentoring, and developing engineers and emerging leaders. You might thrive in this role if you: Have significant experience leading teams that run mission-critical infrastructure in production
