About the role Midjourney is an independent research lab exploring new mediums of thought and expanding the imaginative powers of the human species. We are a small self-funded team focused on design, human infrastructure, and AI. We're looking for a talented visual designer to shape how Midjourney shows up in the world. We are looking for someone with a fresh, opinionated, and high-quality design foundation who can create work that feels distinct, not what’s now but what’s next. You'll partner closely with the leadership on campaigns and visual storytelling across earned and owned channels. This is a freelance engagement with potential for a long-term partnership as the work (and team) grows. What you'll do Design campaign visuals: ads, social, launches — from concept through finished assets Bring editorial design sensibility to our owned channels: email/welcome series, blog, campaign imagery Develop visual systems that are expressive rather than corporate Partner with marketing on what earned and owned should look and feel like Collaborate async with a small, fast-moving team You might be a fit if You're a senior IC — roughly 5–8 years in — with a portfolio of expressive, culturally fluent graphic design: editorial, campaigns, identities across print and digital Typography and composition are your first language You can direct as well as execute: you've shaped campaigns, not just produced assets for them You're plugged into visual culture across art, fashion, publishing, music, and the internet You work well remote and independently Nice to have Editorial/publication experience (print or digital magazines) Motion or illustration You already make things with generative tools Logistics Freelance/contract, part-time to start, with room to grow Fully remote, anywhere. What you’ll do Own day-to-day operations for the scanner program and scanner builds in the spa: purchasing/procurement, vendor management, receiving, inventory, and logistics. Stand up lightweight production operations as we move from prototypes to repeatable builds: build planning, kitting, work instructions, and readiness checklists. Partner with Quality to ensure the operational system supports compliance: traceability, document control, training records, NCR/CAPA workflows, and audit readiness. Drive cross-functional execution for the physical spa build-out and scanner integration: schedules, dependencies, risk register, and weekly coordination with vendors and internal teams. Own the “integration glue” across facilities + device ops: commissioning plans, acceptance criteria, and operational handoff (runbooks, maintenance, spares, escalation paths). Build and track operational metrics: cost, budget, lead times, vendor performance, build throughput, and reliability of critical subsystems. Audit of import/export documentation, management of contract renewals, regulatory compliance. What we’re looking for Proven operations leadership in hardware/medical/robotics (or similarly complex electromechanical products), including procurement and vendor management. Strong program management instincts: can run schedules, unblock cross-functional dependencies, and keep priorities clear under ambiguity. Comfort operating in quality/regulatory environments and building processes that are rigorous without slowing a small team. High ownership and bias to action: can jump between spreadsheets, docks, and the lab/site to keep the program moving. Useful experience Experience running prototype-to-production transitions (NPI, EVT/DVT/PVT-style builds, CM/EMS collaboration). Facilities / construction operations experience (GC coordination, MEP commissioning, site readiness). Familiarity with inventory systems and procurement tooling (even “simple but disciplined”).

What you'll do Run human-subjects recording sessions end-to-end: participant prep and fitting, sensor configuration and calibration, stimulus delivery, real-time signal monitoring, and session documentation. Own daily system QC for a one-of-a-kind sensing instrument: baseline noise recordings, per-sensor health checks, log review, and escalation of anomalies before they touch a dataset. Own participant operations: recruitment coordination, scheduling, screening, consent, and compliant handling of participant records. Stand up and maintain the operational backbone of the program: SOPs for acquisition, QC, and participant workflows — documentation that survives you. Handle first-pass data operations: file conversion, organization, metadata, and quality review in Python. Partner daily with the program lead to refine acquisition protocols and improve system performance over time. What we're looking for Hands-on experience acquiring physiological or imaging data from human participants in a clinical or research setting Obsessive consistency and attention to detail: you notice when something is off and you don't let it slide. Professional, patient, and calm with research participants — sessions succeed or fail on how people feel in the room. Basic scripting ability (Python and/or shell) for QC and data-handling tasks, or clear aptitude and motivation to build it. High ownership of the unglamorous parts: scheduling, documentation, tidy data hygiene. Discretion — parts of this program are not yet public. We'll walk you through the specifics, including the exact technology you'd be operating, in the first conversation. Useful experience Controlled or low-noise recording environments and highly sensitive instrumentation. Physiological signal-processing tools in Python. Human-subjects research administration (IRB protocols, consent workflows). Research studies involving structured tasks or sensory protocols with human participants.
