The role... Synthesia's API and platform capabilities are quickly becoming the way developers embed AI video into their own products — automated training pipelines, localization workflows, customer-facing apps, and more. We're looking for our first Developer Evangelist to make sure the developer world knows it, understands it, and gets building. This is a builder-and-storyteller role. You'll be the face and voice of the Synthesia API to the outside world — writing, coding, speaking, and showing up wherever developers already are — while also being the internal champion who brings their feedback back into the product. You won't just talk about what's possible with Synthesia; you'll build the sample apps, tutorials, and demos that prove it, and you'll do it consistently enough that developers start to recognize your name before they recognize the logo. You'll be part of the Developer Services team and work closely with Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Developer Support to turn technical capability into developer adoption. About the Team Our team brings OpenAI’s most capable technology to the world through our developer platform: the OpenAI API. As the leading AI development platform, our API is used by millions of developers and the majority of enterprises around the world, and powers the majority of AI applications that you may use on a daily basis. The platform supports everything from simple model calls to stateful, multimodal, tool-using applications through the Responses API, Agents SDK, Realtime API, and more. Our SDKs turn that fast-moving platform into reliable, idiomatic developer experiences across languages. About the Role We are looking for a software engineer to help build the official SDKs that power the OpenAI API. Currently offered in Python, Node.js, Golang, Java, and Ruby – our SDKs are some of the most popular in the world. You will help shape the developer experience for all new API features, as well as all future versions of our APIs. We’re looking for engineers who are deeply immersed in AI-native development: people who actively build with Codex and other coding agents, have developed agentic applications or developer tools, and bring strong, experience-backed opinions about OpenAI’s APIs. You’ll pair that firsthand product intuition with meticulous SDK design to improve how developers build with our platform. Prior experience building SDKs is lovely, but not absolutely necessary. In this role, you will: Define and implement the SDK experience for all new API features, as well as all future versions of our API. Build and experiment with agentic applications, developer tools, and coding-agent workflows using Codex and OpenAI’s APIs, translating firsthand experience into better SDK abstractions, API ergonomics, and developer experiences. About the Team The Statsig team within OpenAI owns the experimentation, rollout, dynamic configuration, and analytics infrastructure that sits on the launch path for OpenAI products. Our systems help teams ship safely, evaluate product and model changes in production, and make high-confidence decisions from real-world usage. Statsig began as an independent company built around experimentation, feature management, and product analytics at scale. After Statsig joined OpenAI, the team began the next chapter: bringing that platform expertise and infrastructure into OpenAI as the experimentation and rollout foundation for every product we ship. This is infrastructure with a very direct product consequence. Teams working on ChatGPT, Codex, model measurement, consumer experiences including ads, business subscriptions, developer products, and shared platform systems depend on Statsig to evaluate configurations, move traffic safely, ingest experiment data, serve analytics, and roll changes forward or back when production reality demands it. We are at a critical point in the platform journey. Adoption is accelerating quickly across OpenAI, and the systems that were already important are becoming load-bearing for how the company launches. The infrastructure needs to stay fast under sharply increasing evaluation volume, reliable when more services depend on it, observable enough to debug quickly, and efficient enough to support OpenAI-wide scale. Recent SDK and server-side infrastructure work has already produced measurable wins in latency, reliability, memory usage, and compute efficiency across important services.
