Software Engineer - SaaS Data Protection

About Team Rubrik Atlas is the core data path for all Rubrik products, whether in the data center, at the edge, or in the cloud. It is a distributed, scale-out, fault tolerant, performant, deduplicated user-space filesystem that uniquely combines block device (ext4/NFS/SMB) and S3 backend storage interfaces. It has been the cornerstone of Rubrik’s innovative tech stack since Day 1. Since inception this team has attracted some of our strongest technical talent with a very high bar for quality and velocity. We are looking for motivated engineers, who can complement this rockstar team! About Role Rubrik is expanding at a rapid pace in all directions, from supporting various applications (like Kubernetes, Oracle, EC2, and RDS protection) to hardware storage platforms (like SSD, HDD, S3, Azure Blob, and EBS), to revolutionizing cloud protection (such as SaaS protection, data security, and immutability). At the heart of this transformation is our Atlas platform. We are looking for an experienced distributed systems engineer to guide us through the next stage of the evolution of our data platform. As an engineer in the team, you’ll design, develop and deliver cutting-edge solutions for the tectonic shifts mentioned above. You will be responsible for outlining the architectural principles we should build towards, prototyping changes, and working with the team to realize the vision in a production-quality system. Your technical direction will also impact multiple teams across Rubrik, as we will need to guide them on how to best build on top of Atlas. There will be a wide range of features to work on, including cloud storage-backed file systems with effective cost analysis, building data formats optimized for read and write performance for all workloads, deduplication and compression, reliability, resiliency, infinite scalability, performance tooling using eBPF, asynchronous programming, various read-ahead techniques, snapshotting, data integrity, data security, data i

About Team & About Role The Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team at Rubrik ensures the absolute reliability, availability, performance, and security of our enterprise infrastructure services, spanning both global SaaS platforms and government-compliant environments. We operate at the intersection of software development and systems engineering, prioritizing hyperscale platform automation, self-healing architectures, and structural resiliency. As a Staff Site Reliability Engineer, you will serve as a primary technical leader and architect across our broader distributed cloud systems. You will drive long-term technical roadmaps, establish cross-organizational reliability standards, and solve complex distributed systems challenges that safeguard both enterprise and public sector environments. Beyond the core SRE charter, this Staff role also leads the Application-SRE team — a US-based group that partners closely with engineering, Sales, and Support to unblock POCs, drive complex customer escalations to resolution, and convert recurring field signals into engineering and reliability roadmap items. You will be the technical leader and project owner for Application-SRE: setting direction, tracking commitments, and ensuring the team operates as a high-leverage bridge between the field and the broader engineering org. What You'll Do As a Staff Site Reliability Engineer, you will possess engineering-wide influence and take ownership of the following critical areas: Infrastructure Strategy & Architecture: Formulate and execute the architectural vision for Rubrik's Cloud Platform, optimizing backend infrastructure systems like Kubernetes, MySQL, and cloud-native services for performance, security, and multi-region scale. Hyperscale Automation & Platform Tooling: Build, scale, and maintain sophisticated custom internal tools, platform controllers, and automation frameworks in Go or Python to systematically eliminate operational toil. About the Team & Role The Platform Security Engineering team builds the security features and frameworks that every Rubrik product runs on protecting hundreds of petabytes of data across thousands of enterprise customers globally , from encryption and certificate management to access control and platform hardening at scale. We're a small team with massive impact: the problem space covers the entire Rubrik portfolio, from performant core backend architecture to the AI-powered engineering workflows we and the rest of Rubrik now build with daily. This is a strong opportunity for new grads and early-career engineers who want real ownership on security-critical systems. You'll help solve problems like: How do we roll out post-quantum cryptography across the backup data path before it's an industry requirement? How do we let customers manage sessions and access against compromise, at enterprise scale? How do we build an access control engine that holds up against dynamic, customer-defined policies unique to a data management platform? How do we secure the AI agents and agentic developer workflows that are now embedded in how Rubrik engineers ship code? You'll work alongside experienced engineers and deeply technical managers who will mentor you as you grow, on a roadmap with genuine business impact. What You'll Do Security feature development Design and steer AI to write clean, well-tested code in Go, Scala, or Python for scalable, secure platform services. Collaborate with senior engineers on system design and architecture decisions. Identify attack surfaces and build solutions to harden Rubrik products. Triage, debug, and drive product/system issues to resolution with clear ownership. Use AI coding assistants and agentic workflows as a core part of your daily engineering, while learning to treat AI-generated code as untrusted input that gets the same security scrutiny as any other contribution. SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today, SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of making life multiplanetary and expanding consciousness to the stars. SpaceXSI is building Super Intelligence to help humanity understand the universe. Our teams are building the full Super Intelligence stack: from our Colossus supercomputers, to Grok models, to our suite of applications, including Grok Bot, Grok Build, Grok Imagine, Grok Voice, and X. We're creating a powerful flywheel where more compute trains better models, better models power more useful products, and what we learn from people using those products shapes what we build next. About the role As a Product Engineer on the Grok Connectors team at SpaceXAI, you'll build the integrations that let Grok, Cursor and Grok Bot do real work inside the tools people use every day: Gmail, Outlook, Google Calendar and Drive, Microsoft Teams, OneDrive and SharePoint, GitHub, Slack, finance accounts, and a fast-growing marketplace of third-party MCP plugins. You'll architect, implement, and deploy features end to end, from OAuth sign-in and token handling, to tool schemas and reliability across hundreds of millions of tool calls, to the cards and approval flows users see on web, desktop, and mobile. You'll work directly with enterprise customers and partners to ship connectors that large organizations can trust. You may be a fit if You have an entrepreneurial spirit and love creating outsized business impact. You want AI agents to be genuinely useful, by connecting them to real data and real actions safely.
