The SMB Ads Marketing team is building this opportunity from the ground up. We define how businesses discover OpenAI’s advertising platform, become successful advertisers, and grow their investment over time. You will turn customer needs, product capabilities and advertiser success stories into compelling content—from webinars and educational video series to case studies, industry-specific playbooks and creator-led programs. The role combines two areas of ownership: developing content specifically for SMB audiences and building effective ways to distribute it. About the Team Like every team at OpenAI, the Marketing team contributes to our broader mission of ensuring responsible and widespread adoption of AI. With that aim in mind, we are responsible for developing and executing strategies that drive awareness, engagement, and usage for OpenAI’s products and platform amongst our core audiences. We take a data-driven approach to understand our customers' needs and challenges, ensuring that their voices are reflected in product development and messaging. We then partner closely with product, engineering, developer relations, comms, and sales teams to create a cohesive customer experience across all our channels. Our focus extends beyond just promoting product features; we aim to provide valuable insights and resources that help our users make the most out of AI technologies. About the Role We’re looking for a Startup Content Marketing Manager who loves technology and wants to work closely with the founders building new products and companies with OpenAI. At OpenAI, you’ll work inside the company building the models and directly with founders turning those capabilities into new products and companies. You’ll try what they’re building and dig into the ideas, technical choices, and lessons behind their work. You’ll turn those discoveries into founder stories, practical guides, demos, and campaigns that help other builders see what’s possible and imagine what they could create next. This is a high-agency, hands-on individual-contributor role. You’ll own campaigns from the first founder conversation through publication and results. You’ll work with startup customers, ecosystem partners, and colleagues across OpenAI, with room to follow a promising idea, try an unexpected format, and make something founders genuinely want to read, watch, and share. In this role, you will: Build relationships with founders and technical teams, get hands-on with their products, and uncover stories and practical lessons other builders can apply to th
Who we’re looking for and why now? A great writer who gets technical stuff – and loves figuring out how to explain it to other people. We have a strong writing culture, and writing as marketing has worked ridiculously well for us. We have a newsletter with over 100k subscribers, active social accounts, and real SEO and AEO authority. Hundreds of thousands of people visit our website every day. If you join, you won't spend a year building an audience before anyone reads you. We can and like to be opinionated about what we think best practice is and thousands of developers look to us to provide them opinion. The problem is we're at capacity, and there's a long list of content we're neglecting because of it. We used to do more tutorials. Use case guides people keep asking us for. Overall, we have a lot to write about. PostHog has grown from product analytics into a broad platform for engineers, and we're building everything from AI agents and error tracking to data infrastructure at huge scale. We're also open by default, so we're unusually happy to share what we've learned along the way. We want someone who can turn all of that into genuinely useful technical content. Simply put, you're a writer . You care about the craft, have opinions about what makes technical content actually great, and have a portfolio that proves it. What you’ll be doing You'll research and explain use cases, technical concepts, and how things actually work. One day that might mean digging into how our engineers rebuilt part of our data warehouse. Another could be explaining the difference between logs and traces, writing a tutorial for a PostHog use case, or figuring out the best way to explain what a context warehouse is. You'll need to be comfortable getting into technical details, but you don't need to be an engineer. The important bit is that you're curious enough to understand technical concepts properly and a good enough writer to explain them simply. Day to day, it looks like: Writing co
