About the Role The Speculative Decoding team at Together AI builds the draft models and algorithms that let large language models generate faster without changing their outputs. Our speculators run in production on frontier open models such as DeepSeek, Kimi and GLM. Our work sits at the intersection of model training, inference algorithms and serving systems, and we co-design all three to lower the cost and latency of generation. As a research intern, you will dive into open questions in speculative decoding: new drafter architectures and verification schemes, knowledge distillation and training recipes that align draft and target models, and drafters that adapt as traffic shifts. You will train and fine-tune draft models at scale on dedicated GPU clusters, and test your ideas against realistic serving workloads, including long-context and agentic traffic. Projects aim to answer important research questions in speculative decoding, enabling faster generation on frontier models, drafters that keep pace with changing workloads, and robust, reproducible evaluation under real traffic. Past Research Speculative decoding research by Together researchers, interns and academic collaborators includes: Speculative Speculative Decoding (ICLR 2026) When RL Meets Adaptive Speculative Training: A Unified Training-Serving System (ICML 2026) Beat the Long Tail: Distribution-Aware Speculative Decoding for RL Training (MLSys 2026) Responsibilities Research and prototype new efficient speculative decoding algorithms and draft model architectures Train, fine-tune and distill draft models, and design rigorous experiments to validate hypotheses. Implement optimized version for serving engines to show efficacy in real world workloads Communicate the plans, progress, and results of projects to the broader team Share findings through technical write-ups and blog posts, and help bring successful ideas into production Requirements Currently pursuing a Master's or Ph.D. degree in Computer Sci

At NVIDIA, we’re building GeForce G-Assist — an on-device AI assistant that combines Small Language Models (SLMs), retrieval systems, and hybrid cloud capabilities to deliver responsive, context-aware assistance inside the GeForce ecosystem. We work closely across engineering and product teams to ensure G-Assist performs reliably in real-world scenarios. What you'll be doing: Together, we focus on how models behave in production, not just on benchmarks. Evaluate and improve Small Language Models used in GeForce G-Assist, with an emphasis on accuracy, robustness, and conversational reliability. Identify and mitigate conversation and context contamination, including state drift, prompt leakage, and retrieval cross-talk. Work with SLM and VLM architectures to support text and multimodal interactions. Collaborate on hybrid architectures that combine local SLMs with cloud-based models. We value engineers who enjoy thinking across the full system—from model behavior to runtime performance. Optimize local inference using llama.cpp, including quantization, memory usage, and performance tuning. Read, write, and optimize C/C++ code in performance-critical paths. Design and integrate retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems that ground responses in system and user context. Support agentic AI workflows, enabling planning, tool use, and multi-step execution. What we need to see: 5+ years of validated experience in system software or a related field, with an M.S. or higher degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience). We’re looking for teammates who enjoy solving real problems, learning as they go, and collaborating in a tight-knit environment. GAQ427R224 We're hiring an AI Automation Engineer to build the next generation of IT automations to improve the employee experience at Databricks. You'll be building production-grade AI agents and automation services that understand employee requests, retrieve enterprise context, reason across systems, invoke tools and APIs, and take action safely. The goal isn't to automate existing workflows the same way we've done it for the past decade. It's to reimagine how employees interact with IT through intelligent, contextual, and increasingly agentic experiences and to do it on Databricks. What you will do Build AI agents and automations: Design, deploy, and run AI agents that support all of our employees. The agents interpret natural-language requests, gather context, select tools, execute actions, and communicate outcomes. Maintain MCP servers across our AI tools portfolio. Build agentic workflows that decompose goals into steps, handle failures, pause for human approval as needed, and resume their workflows. Ground agents in trusted internal knowledge (policies, runbooks, system documentation, SOPs, etc). Turn high-volume support CUJs into self-service experiences: Identify repetitive, high-friction IT interactions and convert them into reliable AI automation experiences. Instrument AI automations with logs, metrics, and feedback loops. Design and implement AI automations with identity governance, tools RBAC, human-in-the-loop approvals where applicable, audit trails, and failure handling. Create shared automation infrastructure (credential vaults, event ingestion, scheduling, approval workflows, cache/state stores) that other teams can build on. Work with IT Support, Employee Experience, Security, IAM, Infrastructure, and Engineering to identify automation opportunities and take solutions from prototype to production. Write and maintain high-quality technical/engineering documentation that clearly communicates system designs, operational procedures, and architectural
