At Snowflake, we are powering the era of the agentic enterprise. To usher in this new era, we seek AI-native thinkers across every function who are energized by the opportunity to reinvent how they work. You don’t just use tools; you possess an innate curiosity, treating AI as a high-trust collaborator that is core to how you solve problems and accelerate your impact. We look for low-ego individuals who thrive in dynamic and fast-moving environments and move with an experimental mindset — who rapidly test emerging capabilities to discover simpler, more powerful ways to deliver results. At Snowflake, your role isn't just to execute a function, but to help redefine the future of how work gets done. We are looking for talented systems developers and researchers to join the Snowflake AI Research team and advance the state of the art in LLM inference systems and optimization . Our mission is to build the next generation of high-performance and intelligent inference systems . We optimize not only how fast and efficiently models run, but also how quickly inference systems can adapt to new models, architectures, hardware, and workloads. Our work spans the full inference stack—from distributed serving and runtime systems to GPU kernels and model-system co-design. We explore techniques such as adaptive parallelism, speculative and parallel decoding, disaggregated inference, scheduling and batching, KV-cache optimization, model swapping, quantization, and GPU kernel optimization to push the frontier of latency, throughput, scalability, and cost. Beyond optimizing individual models, we are building intelligent and adaptive inference systems that can automate performance optimization—rapidly profiling new models and workloads, identifying bottlenecks, selecting effective execution strategies, and adapting system configurations with minimal manual tuning. We embrace AI-native engineering , using AI not only as the workload we optimize, but also as a tool to accelerate system deve
About Anthropic Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems. Performance Engineer, Inference Engine About the Role Anthropic's inference engine is the software between the accelerator kernels and the routing layer. It manages the entire token path in between: batching requests, laying the model out across chips, managing memory for weights and activations, coordinating every forward pass, and managing model state across requests. Built in-house, it runs on all of our accelerator platforms, serving Claude to millions of users and running our research workloads. You will work on building and optimizing this system at Anthropic scale: improving throughput, cost, reliability, and latency across all accelerator and cloud platforms. You are intimately familiar with the hardware and bandwidth numbers (FLOPs, HBM, PCIe, RDMA, network links, etc.) and can model a problem quickly: where the time and bytes go, and what sets the bound. The role is deeply technical and high-impact, and suits engineers who enjoy working across accelerator programming, high-performance systems that seamlessly coordinate between host and device, and large-scale distributed systems. Familiarity with the transformer architecture is a plus. Some example recurring themes: Keep device utilization high. Accelerators should never be waiting due to other overheads. Reuse instead of recompute. Keep model state cached and reuse it whenever that is cheaper than computing it again. Measure, model, then change. We build the observability to see where the gaps are, model the impact of potential improvements, deploy them, and go around again, with Claude speeding up every turn of that loop. Tokens you can trust. Ensuring model quality matter
About the Team The ChatGPT Search Product Infrastructure team builds the foundational systems that power search experiences across ChatGPT. We develop the product infrastructure that connects models with search systems and other sources of real-time information, enabling ChatGPT to deliver timely, relevant, and trustworthy answers to users around the world. Our work sits at the intersection of product engineering, AI, and large-scale infrastructure. We build shared platforms and abstractions that enable product teams to independently develop, evaluate, and launch new search-powered experiences. The team partners closely with: Post-Training on model launches, experimentation, and prompt optimization Search product verticals on new user experiences Inference on GPU efficiencies Indexing and Retrieval on the systems that identify and deliver relevant information Capacity/Fleet team to ensure optimal regionalized provisioning of GPUs and CPUs About the Role We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the team responsible for ChatGPT’s Search Product Infrastructure. You will set the technical and organizational direction for the systems that bring search capabilities into ChatGPT. You will guide architectural decisions across search orchestration, model and prompt integration, serving infrastructure, experimentation, observability, evaluation, and product integrations. You will balance immediate launch and product needs with the long-term reliability, scalability, latency, and maintainability of the platform. A central responsibility of this role is creating leverage for Search product verticals. You will lead the development of extensible platforms that allow those teams to independently build, test, and launch features without requiring ongoing invol
