The goal of a Staff Machine Learning Engineer at Scale is to lead the design and deployment of agentic AI systems that operate in real-world, mission-critical government environments. On the Public Sector team, you’ll work at the intersection of agentic ML, systems engineering, and applied research, building foundational infrastructure that enables AI systems to reason, plan, and act reliably at national scale. Our Public Sector ML Team partners directly with U.S. defense and intelligence agencies to deploy AI into classified and regulated environments. Through flagship programs like Donovan and Thunderforge , we are advancing the next generation of agentic AI for geospatial reasoning, planning, and decision support. Staff Machine Learning Engineers play a central role in setting technical direction, owning core architectures, and translating ambitious ideas into production systems trusted by government operators. You will: Lead the architecture and implementation of agentic AI systems, with a focus on long-horizon reasoning, orchestration, and system-level reliability. Build and scale agents that perform complex geospatial reasoning, including interpreting, generating, and reasoning over maps and spatial data. Design and improve retrieval systems across large collections of static and semi-structured documents, enabling agents to surface high-signal context efficiently. Fine-tune and evaluate embedding models to improve recall and precision for mission-critical datasets. Design memory systems that allow agents to persist state, operate over long contexts, and learn from prior interactions. Own and evolve shared agentic infrastructure and core libraries, enabling reuse across teams, products, and Public Sector contracts. Define evaluation strategies for agentic systems, including robustness testing, failure-mode analysis, and regression testing in production environments. Partner closely with engineering managers, product leaders, and researchers to scope high-impac

About the role We’re looking for an engineering manager to lead a team building software systems that detect and prevent harmful misuse of frontier AI models—before incidents occur. This is a builder’s role: you’ll lead engineers shipping production services, detection pipelines, and mitigation mechanisms that protect frontier model integrity and reduce high-severity misuse risk. While this work intersects with frontier model development, security and risk, we’re explicitly seeking someone with a software engineering foundation who is comfortable building reliable systems that can operate at billions of users scale. In this role you will: Lead a team of software engineers building detection + mitigation systems for frontier model misuse, with an emphasis on model IP protection / distillation detection and emerging risk surfaces from autonomous agents. Set the technical roadmap and execution strategy: prioritize, design, ship, iterate, measure impact. Build production systems: services, pipelines, tooling, instrumentation, and automation that scale with frontier model usage. Partner deeply with Research and Product to translate evolving model capabilities into concrete tests, signals, and mitigations that can be deployed at scale. Drive strong engineering fundamentals: architecture, reliability, monitoring, performance, and operational excellence. Hire and grow an exceptional team across backend, data systems, and applied ML engineering domains as needed. Anticipate what breaks at scale as agentic workflows become more capable. You might thrive in this role if you: Experience building systems in adversarial, fast-evolving environments Are comfortable with ambiguity and novelty Have experience adjacent to security (e.g., abuse prevention, fraud, integrity, platform defense, auth/identity, malware/spam, adversarial environments) Communicate clearly and build trust quickly with senior stakeholders—pragmatic, collaborative, and calm under scrutiny. Significant experience

Join us and help build the platform engineers turn to ship AI products. THE ROLE We're looking for a social media manager to own how Baseten shows up on social. Our audience is ML engineers, infrastructure teams, and technical founders, and most of them meet us first on X or LinkedIn, around a model launch, a benchmark, an open source release, or a customer result. This role decides what that first impression is. This is a senior individual contributor role. You set the strategy and you write the posts. Day to day you'll work with product marketing, comms, design, our engineers, and our founders. This role relies on technical credibility. You don't need an engineering background, but you do need to understand what we're claiming and why it matters. We post about latency, throughput, and GPU cost, and we hold ourselves to getting those details right. RESPONSIBILITIES This role is the face of the Baseten brand on our social channels and builds our direct line of communication with the community across X, LinkedIn, YouTube, and the communities where our audience already spends time. Track the conversation across AI and open source, and move quickly when we have something useful to add. Set the social strategy: what we post where, how each account grows, and how we measure it, with a clear point of view on which channels deserve investment and which don't. Translate technical work into posts worth sharing: model launches, benchmark results, open source projects, engineering deep dives, and custo

Synthesia is the world’s leading AI video platform for business, used by over 90% of the Fortune 100. Founded in 2017, the company is headquartered in London, with offices and teams across Europe and the US. As AI continues to shape the way we live and work, Synthesia develops products to enhance visual communication and enterprise skill development, helping people work better and stay at the center of successful organizations. Following our recent Series E funding round, where we raised $200 million, our valuation stands at $4 billion. Our total funding exceeds $530 million from premier investors including Accel, NVentures (Nvidia's VC arm), Kleiner Perkins, GV, and Evantic Capital, alongside the founders and operators of Stripe, Datadog, Miro, and Webflow. About the role Synthesia Roleplay Sessions is a training tool that lets people practice real conversations with AI avatars. Instead of just watching training videos, learners do interactive roleplay exercises, like practicing a sales pitch or handling a customer complaint with an AI coach. The AI gives instant feedback so people know what they did well and what to improve. Managers can use a dashboard to track which employees have completed their training, see how well they performed, and measure if the training actually improved their skills. The whole platform is built around learning by doing rather than just passive video watching. For your ML engineer role, you'd be building the AI engine that makes the coaching work. That means creating the models that listen to what learners say during roleplay, score their performance, generate helpful feedback in real time, and decide how the AI avatar should respond next based on what the learner does. This is an applied ML position, not a research one . We expect you to have a good understanding of ML but on the other side to be a good product-focused software developer as you will be expected to work on different products. Please bring with you: Ability to apply your
