The Team + The Role The Core team builds features and platform capabilities that power critical areas of the Pendo product experience. The team supports high-stakes customer use cases, shapes how systems evolve over time, and creates a more consistent experience across the platform. This work sits in complex product areas where delivery speed, system reliability, and long-term maintainability all matter. As a Sr. Software Engineer, you will own complex problem spaces and drive them forward independently. You will apply strong engineering judgment to ambiguous challenges, partner closely with Product and Design, and stay accountable to outcomes, not just output. You will break large efforts into small, continuously shippable increments, bring others along with you, and leave the codebase better than you found it. This role is based in our Raleigh office. What this looks like day-to-day Feature ownership: Own complex, ambiguous features end-to-end by structuring work into small, independently shippable increments. Drive delivery with clarity, strong judgment, and accountability for customer and system impact. Production engineering: Write production-ready code and define testing approaches based on risk and system impact. Use safe rollout patterns to reduce risk and enable incremental delivery. Incident response: Respond quickly when production issues arise in your area. Resolve issues and drive follow-up improvements that prevent recurrence. AI-enabled development: Use AI tools as a core part of your daily workflow for code generation, debugging, test writing, and task decomposition. Help raise the bar for how the team uses AI in development workflows. About The Role Together AI is growing its compute footprint, and making sure new capacity meets our technical standards is an important priority for the company. Every new cluster has to clear a technical bar before it carries customer workloads, and this role owns that bar. As Technical Compute Qualification Manager, you will run the process that screens and qualifies prospective compute providers, taking each prospective deployment through a structured evaluation across compute, networking, storage, power, cooling, and operations. You will coordinate various engineering partners through validation, review provider specifications and test results, and produce clear go/no-go recommendations on whether new capacity meets our standards. It is a high-impact, process-driven role for someone technical enough to know when a spec sheet does not add up, and additional diligence needs to be completed, and organized enough to drive many evaluations to closure in parallel. "You will deep-dive into critical hardware performance metrics, proactively identifying potential bottlenecks in cluster architecture before they impact our end customers training or inference workloads." Conduct diligence and work with engineering teams to make assessments regarding technical and operational resilience. Responsibilities Own and continuously improve the end-to-end qualification process for new compute capacity, from initial provider intake through final go/no-go recommendation. Run multiple provider evaluations in parallel, setting timelines, tracking status, and keeping every stakeholder aligned on what is needed and by when. Partner with infrastructure engineering, network engineering, data center engineering, and SRE teams to plan and coordinate technical validation, then translate their findings into clear decisions for leadership. About the Role We're looking for a software engineer to build the Kubernetes-native control plane that provisions and runs our GPU inference fleet. You'll design a manifest-driven API where the inference team declares what they need, whether that's a cluster, a model deployment, or a capacity change, and our controllers handle the reconciliation, provider/runtime selection, and lifecycle management underneath, so the inference team never has to know or care which specific serving stack, scheduler, or hardware pool is doing the work. You'll also build the systems that keep the fleet efficient, not just running, including defragmentation and rebalancing logic that consolidates scattered workloads back into contiguous capacity, and scheduling/bin-packing improvements that push GPU utilization up without hurting latency. The core value we're after is decoupling the people building on top of the platform from the operational and runtime complexity underneath, while squeezing more usable capacity out of the same hardware. You'll build the controllers, reconciliation loops, and self-service surface (API/CLI, not tickets) that make that decoupling real, plus the event-driven health, remediation, and utilization systems that keep it running and efficient without a human in the loop. Strong candidates have hands-on experience with Kubernetes controller/CRD patterns, have built or operated a platform API that abstracts multiple backends behind one interface, understand GPU scheduling and capacity efficiency (fragmentation, bin-packing, right-sizing), and think about GPU infrastructure as software to be engineered. A product mindset - you've built internal platforms or APIs consumed by other engineering teams and care about the developer experience of what you ship. You build it, you own it. You are not only responsible for delivering the software but also for operating and supporting it in production. Responsibilities Build the provisioning state machine: design and implement
