P-1415 Our mission at Databricks is to radically simplify the whole data lifecycle from ingestion to ETL, BI, and all the way up to ML/AI with a unified platform. To achieve this goal, we believe the data warehouse architecture as we know it today will be replaced by a new architectural pattern, Lakehouse ( CIDR 2021 paper ), open platforms that unify data warehousing and advanced analytics. This new architecture will help address several major challenges, including data staleness, reliability, total cost of ownership, data lock-in, and limited use-case support. To achieve this vision, Databricks is building the next generation (decoupled) query engine and structured storage system that can outperform specialized data warehouses in relational query performance. Yet we will retain the expressiveness and robustness of general purpose systems such as Apache Spark™ to support diverse workloads ranging from ETL to data science. You will be part of this multi-year journey. As part of this team, you will design these next-generation systems that leapfrog state-of-the-art within the following areas: Query compilation and optimization Distributed query execution and scheduling Vectorized execution engine Data security Resource management Transaction coordination Efficient storage structures (encodings, indexes) Automatic physical data optimization The responsibilities you will have: Drive requirements clarity and design decisions for ambiguous problems Produce technical design documents and project plans Develop new features Mentor more junior engineers Test and rollout to production, monitoring. What we look for: A passion for database systems, storage systems, distributed systems, language design, or performance optimization Are comfortable working towards a multi-year vision with incremental deliverables Be customer-oriented and focused on having an impact 5+ years of experience working in a related system Optional: PhD in databases or distributed systems About Dat

We're on a mission to build the best platform in the world for engineers to understand and scale their systems, applications, and teams. We operate at high scale—trillions of data points per day—providing always-on alerting, metrics visualization, logs, and application tracing for tens of thousands of companies. Our engineering culture values pragmatism, honesty, and simplicity to solve hard problems the right way The Incident Insights & Readiness SRE team at Datadog fosters a resilient culture by using incidents as learning opportunities and catalysts for growth. Our users are Datadog engineers, and we build the software, tooling, and operational frameworks that help them prepare for, respond to, and learn from incidents. We work closely with engineering teams across Datadog to analyze incidents and turn those insights into better tools, stronger incident response, and organizational learning. Our efforts empower Datadog to navigate unexpected failures confidently, efficiently, and with a commitment to continuous learning and systems improvement. At Datadog, we place value in our office culture - the relationships and collaboration it builds and the creativity it brings to the table. We operate as a hybrid workplace to ensure our Datadogs can create a work-life harmony that best fits them. What You’ll Do: Own and improve the on-call experience for the company by establishing best practices and building platforms to support on-call rotations and compensation. We're a remote-first team spread across time zones, so no office to report to - work from wherever helps you do your best work. Just a couple of things to keep in mind: pay is based on where you're located, and you'll need to keep a home base in the country you're hired in. So while we love the "coffee shop today, mountains tomorrow" life, this isn't a passport-optional, work-from-anywhere-on-Earth kind of remote - think flexible within your country, not borderless. Location: Remote — To be considered for this position, you must reside in the Eastern Time Zone to meet the needs of the team. About the Role: As a frontend-focused Senior Software Engineer, you will own the design and delivery of the user-facing experiences at the heart of our AI products. Your primary focus is building polished, performant, production-grade interfaces in React and TypeScript. You'll also work in Go on the backend services and APIs that power those experiences, but that's a secondary part of the role. This is a high-autonomy, high-leadership position: you'l
