About the Role We're looking for a Software Engineer to build the systems that treat infrastructure as software. This role owns the software state machines that provision hardware, bring it into service, and manage its full lifecycle — turning racks of GPUs into running inference clusters without a human touching a runbook. The Research and Inference team is your customer: today they file tickets and wait; the target state is that they issue a single API call to stand up, scale, or tear down a cluster, and the system takes care of the rest. The platform is manifest-driven such that teams declare the desired state of a cluster or host — shape, topology, software stack — and the system is responsible for reconciling reality to that manifest, continuously, through every stage of its lifecycle. You will design the engines that manifest the schema, the engines that execute against it, and the workflows that carry a piece of hardware or a cluster from one state to the next—taking it from bare metal to a fully functioning AI cluster for training or inference. You'll write production code which is typed, tested, versioned, and deployed through CI/CD that models infrastructure state and reconciles it, the same way a Kubernetes controller reconciles a cluster's desired state. Success looks like eliminating manual provisioning work, not documenting it better. A product mindset - you've built internal platforms or APIs consumed by other engineering teams and care about the developer experience of what you ship. You build it, you own it. You are not only responsible for delivering the software but also for operating and supporting it in production. Responsibilities Build the provisioning state machine: design and implement the software that models the full lifecycle of a physical host from discovery, inference bring-up to GPU driver/CUDA stack, health validation, and decommission/RMA — as explicit, versioned states and transitions. Build the self-service API: design declarative
About the Role We're looking for a software engineer to build the Kubernetes-native control plane that provisions and runs our GPU inference fleet. You'll design a manifest-driven API where the inference team declares what they need, whether that's a cluster, a model deployment, or a capacity change, and our controllers handle the reconciliation, provider/runtime selection, and lifecycle management underneath, so the inference team never has to know or care which specific serving stack, scheduler, or hardware pool is doing the work. You'll also build the systems that keep the fleet efficient, not just running, including defragmentation and rebalancing logic that consolidates scattered workloads back into contiguous capacity, and scheduling/bin-packing improvements that push GPU utilization up without hurting latency. The core value we're after is decoupling the people building on top of the platform from the operational and runtime complexity underneath, while squeezing more usable capacity out of the same hardware. You'll build the controllers, reconciliation loops, and self-service surface (API/CLI, not tickets) that make that decoupling real, plus the event-driven health, remediation, and utilization systems that keep it running and efficient without a human in the loop. Strong candidates have hands-on experience with Kubernetes controller/CRD patterns, have built or operated a platform API that abstracts multiple backends behind one interface, understand GPU scheduling and capacity efficiency (fragmentation, bin-packing, right-sizing), and think about GPU infrastructure as software to be engineered. A product mindset - you've built internal platforms or APIs consumed by other engineering teams and care about the developer experience of what you ship. You build it, you own it. You are not only responsible for delivering the software but also for operating and supporting it in production. Responsibilities Build the provisioning state machine: design and implement
Airbnb was born in 2007 when two hosts welcomed three guests to their San Francisco home, and has since grown to over 5 million hosts who have welcomed over 2 billion guest arrivals in almost every country across the globe. Every day, hosts offer unique stays and experiences that make it possible for guests to connect with communities in a more authentic way. The Community You Will Join: The Host Pricing & Settings team builds the platform and tools that help hosts run their business — with pricing strategies informed by market intelligence, comparable listings, and demand signals. We partner with Search, Listings, Tax, and Payments to ensure our guidance is accurate, timely, and trusted. Behind every pricing recommendation is a sophisticated ML system undergoing a fundamental rearchitecture. Our north star: a serving infrastructure where training, inference, and evaluation are consistent by design — features from a centralized store, model composition in one place, and backfills available on demand so data scientists and MLEs can evaluate candidates in days, not weeks. The Difference You Will Make: As a senior technical individual contributor, you will own the technical strategy for the full Modeling → ML Serving → API interface across the Host Pricing org. Although you will be at one of our highest levels of seniority, all individual contributors at Airbnb are Software Engineers — you are expected to be hands-on and contribute code. Define the architecture and contracts governing how models move from development to production — feature store design, model schema management, online/offline inference consistency, and multi-version support. Lead the buildout of a unified serving stack that eliminates per-model one-off implementations and gives data scientists a turnkey path from training to production. Architect backfill and evaluation infrastructure so the modeling team can simulate production inference over historical data in days, not weeks. Establish do

At Scale, we build the AI systems behind some of the country's most important decisions. On the Public Sector Engineering team, you'll embed directly with U.S. government customers, including the Army, Air Force, Joint commands and Intelligence Community, to build and deploy AI applications that support their most critical missions. This is a hybrid customer-facing engineering role. You'll sit with the people whose problems you're solving, own delivery from first prototype to production, and ship software that customers adopt and rely on in the field. Model performance matters, timelines are urgent, and ambiguity is the norm. Your work directly shapes what Scale's platform can do for the public sector. What you'll do Embed with government customers to understand their mission, scope the problem, and turn it into working software. Own delivery end-to-end: design, build, deploy, and maintain solutions at customer sites, from prototype to stable production. Build robust backend systems and data integrations that connect customer environments to Scale's platform and back. Partner with product and engineering to feed field signals back into the roadmap, so the patterns you build once become capabilities the whole team can reuse. Serve as the technical point of contact for customer stakeholders, guiding adoption and maximizing mission impact. What we're looking for Required 5+ years of software engineering experience, ideally in customer-facing, forward-deployed, or government contexts. Strong production coding in Python and TypeScript (or comparable modern languages). Comfort across the stack, including cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), containers, Linux, and networking fundamentals. Ability to operate independently in ambiguous, fast-moving environments and make sound trade-offs under pressure. An active TS/SCI clearance. Bonus Experience building or deploying systems powered by LLMs or generative models. Familiarity with Node and React, Kubernetes and Docker, and T
