Zoox
📍 Foster City• Full-time• $227K – $322K/yr
28 days ago

Zoox is building the world's most advanced self-driving hardware and software solution, and nearly every part of it depends on moving data reliably. Sensor frames to perception, planner decisions to vehicle controls, telemetry to the cloud, and remote operator video back down again. All of it crosses process, host, and network boundaries under hard latency and reliability budgets, on a vehicle that has to keep working when a link degrades or a network gets congested. The Software Core Connectivity team owns that data path end to end: in-vehicle messaging (pub/sub, RPC, inter-process and inter-host transport), the vehicle's internal network, and vehicle-to-cloud connectivity. It also owns the transport and serialization abstractions the rest of the software organization builds on. Every one of those paths crosses a team boundary, so the work happens alongside firmware, product security, simulation, manufacturing, and IT, and those partners rely on this team for transport and networking depth to achieve their goals. As the team leader you will own the roadmap and the release commitments, and you will spend a real share of your time in those partnerships. In this role, you will: Own the roadmap, staffing, and release commitments across the team's messaging, in-vehicle network, and cloud connectivity work. Lead and grow a team of software engineers, run their performance and promotion cycles, and hire into the gaps. Represent the team in cross-functional programs across firmware, product security, simulation, fleet operations, and infrastructure, and build the relationships that keep shared work moving. Set the technical bar. Make the architecture calls stick, and make sure the abstractions the team ships are ones other teams want to build on. Balance interrupt-driven reliability work against long-horizon architecture, and be explicit with partners about the tradeoff. Qualificati

By uniting applied AI research, flexible infrastructure, and seamless developer tooling, we enable companies operating at the frontier of AI to bring cutting-edge models into production. We're growing quickly and recently raised our $1.5B Series F , led by Altimeter Capital, Conviction Partners, and Spark Capital. Join us and help build the platform engineers turn to ship AI products. THE ROLE Baseten's Compute org is in hyper growth. As it scales, the systems and workflows that keep supply and demand balanced across our GPU fleet need to get more sophisticated, and this role exists to make sure they do. Compute sits at the center of how Baseten allocates, forecasts, and manages the capacity that powers every customer inference request. The team that supports this work, C3, runs on a mix of internal tooling, manual processes, and systems that haven't fully kept pace with the scale of the problem. This role exists to close that gap. You'll design, build, and ship AI-powered workflows that give the Compute and C3 teams real leverage, automating the manual, repetitive, and error-prone parts of the capacity lifecycle so the team can focus on judgment calls that actually need a human. We want someone who can walk in, audit what exists today, identify what's missing or broken, and start shipping fast. You know when to reach for an existing internal tool and when to build something custom in Claude Code. You think two to three steps ahead about how the thing you build today fits into the broader capacity systems architecture tomorrow. And you bring a point of view on our stack, on what we should be building, and on where AI can do something existing tooling simply can't. RESPONSIBILITIES Ship AI-powered workflows for Compute and C3 : build the agents and automations that give capacity analysts, ops leads, an

SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today, SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of making life multiplanetary and expanding consciousness to the stars. SpaceXSI is building Super Intelligence to help humanity understand the universe. Our teams are building the full Super Intelligence stack: from our Colossus supercomputers, to Grok models, to our suite of applications, including Grok Bot, Grok Build, Grok Imagine, Grok Voice, and X. We're creating a powerful flywheel where more compute trains better models, better models power more useful products, and what we learn from people using those products shapes what we build next. ABOUT THE ROLE: The Data Center Engineering team builds the internal systems and platforms that keep our data centers running at the scale and reliability required for frontier AI training and inference. We partner closely with datacenter operations, research, and infrastructure teams to deliver high-leverage tools that turn raw operational data into clear insight and action. About the Team OpenAI's Industrial Compute organization is building the world's most advanced AI infrastructure ecosystem. Through a combination of strategic partnerships and self-built campuses, we are scaling the compute, storage, and networking platforms that power frontier AI training and inference. The Scaling Analytics team builds the data and software systems that help Industrial Compute understand, plan, and operate infrastructure at global scale. We work across capacity, hardware, storage, infrastructure software, and operational systems to connect fragmented sources of infrastructure data and make that information reliable and usable for engineering and planning. As OpenAI's infrastructure footprint grows, CPU and storage data increasingly spans internal platforms, vendor systems, APIs, databases, object storage, capacity management systems, and operational tooling. Building reliable connections across these environments is critical to understanding available capacity, utilization, fleet state, and infrastructure growth. About the Role We are seeking a Data Engineer to build the data systems and integrations that connect OpenAI's CPU, storage, and supporting infrastructure platforms. This role sits at the intersection of data engineering and backend software engineering. Rather than focusing primarily on traditional analytical pipelines, you will build the software and integrations required to collect, normalize, and make infrastructure data available across a heterogeneous set of systems. CPU and storage data may originate from internal infrastructure platforms, vendor APIs, databases, object storage, capacity systems, and operational services. You will determine how to reliably connect these systems and where those integrations should live—whether within an existing infrastructure service, an orchestration framework, a scheduled workload, or a purpose-built application. You will work closely with Infrastructure Engineering, Capacity Engineering, Storage,
