MongoDB powers mission‑critical workloads for customers who expect their data to be durable, highly available, and fast to access. The Storage Execution team builds the core infrastructure that makes those guarantees real. We are hiring a Senior Engineering Manager to manage the largely New York-based Storage Execution team. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who is obsessed with customer success, takes the responsibility of durably storing customer data seriously, and has strong empathy for both their team and our users. This role can be based remotely in Ontario, Canada. About the Storage Execution team The Storage Execution team sits at the heart of MongoDB’s Online Transaction Processing (OLTP) team. We own the core transactional read/write path on each node, across both today’s storage engine and a next‑generation cloud-native storage architecture. Our work determines how correct and performant MongoDB is for customers running mission-critical production workloads. The team’s responsibilities include: Defining and maintaining the internal collection and index APIs used by Replication, Query and Catalog modules, and commands for local reads and writes, plus the transaction and durability primitives that govern visibility, conflict resolution and crash recovery Integrating the next generation of MongoDB’s storage architecture into the server in a way that is predictable for other teams, scales with cloud elasticity, and preserves the performance and safety of the classic configuration Improving transaction processing speed and semantics of both single shard and cross-shard transactions Owning index builds and schema‑level storage operations (build/rebuild, cleanup, resumability) and ensuring they behave well for large, highly available clusters running write-heavy workloads Building validation, diagnostics, and storage‑focused test infrastructure to catch durability issues early and keep the system trustworthy at scale Partnering with neighboring team

DoorDash USA
📍 United States• Full-time• $159.8K – $235K/yr

About the Team The Storage organization builds and operates the online stateful systems and abstractions that DoorDash Engineering depends on: reliable, efficient, secure, and easy to use. Within Storage, the Distributed Caching team owns every caching offering at DoorDash end to end, including ElastiCache (Redis/Valkey), Boulder (our KVRocks-based key-value store for high-QPS feature serving), Entity Cache (read Bill Shen’s engineering blog post, “ High-Performance Proxy Cache for DoorDash Services ”), and the Distributed Lock Service, plus the smart clients (asgard-redis, valkey-go) that sit in front of them. These systems back critical product surfaces across DoorDash, Wolt, and Deliveroo: the team runs roughly 400 ElastiCache clusters serving hundreds of millions of GET requests per second in aggregate, and Boulder, our offline-to-online feature store, serves billions of feature lookups per second at peak. About the Role The team owns provisioning of clusters and the smart clients that sit in front of them, baking in sensible defaults so that other engineering teams get a turnkey caching solution instead of having to run their own. You'll help drive Boulder's evolution to scale further, improve cost efficiency, enhance performance, and support real-time updates; re-platform the Distributed Lock Service onto a strongly consistent backend; and build the self-serve tooling and recommendation engine that let customers describe a workload (QPS, TTL, payload size, latency profile) and get the right backend without talking to a human. You'll go deep on cache invalidation, replication, sharding, compaction, and failover, while shipping the guardrails, automation, and observability that keep this scale operable by a small team. You must be located in San Francisco, Seattle, or the New York Metro Area for this hybrid position. You will report to the Engineering Manager on the Distributed Caching team within the Storage organization. You’re excited about this opportunity b

We're looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the Agent Context team in NYC. This team owns how Asana's AI systems search, retrieve, and reason over the work graph the search infrastructure, dense embedding pipelines, ranking systems, and evaluation frameworks that determine whether every AI experience at Asana is trustworthy or not. Your mission is to make retrieval comprehensive, reliable, and fast at enterprise scale, positioning Asana as the coordination and memory layer for the agentic enterprise. This is a high-leverage platform role: nearly every AI product at Asana - AI Teammates, chat experiences, agentic workflows depends on the systems this team builds. You will manage a team of senior engineers in New York collaborating daily with partner teams in San Francisco and Warsaw, and work alongside a dedicated Product Manager as your direct counterpart. This role is based in our New York office with an office-centric hybrid schedule. The standard in-office days are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday; most Asanas have the option to work from home on Wednesdays. What you'll achieve Own the technical direction and delivery of Asana's retrieval stack end to end: lexical and semantic search, dense embedding generation and backfill at scale, chunking and ranking strategies, and RAG comprehensiveness across the work graph. Build and operate the evaluation infrastructure that makes retrieval quality measurable recall/precision benchmarks, offline and online evals, and comparative testing across retrieval backends - so quality decisions are made with data, not vibes. Drive the cost, performance, and quality tradeoffs that define this space: when semantic search earns its infrastructure cost over lexical, how to hit latency targets without sacrificing recall, and how retrieval improvements compound into cheaper, faster downstream LLM calls. About the Team The Storage organization builds and operates the online stateful systems and abstractions that DoorDash Engineering depends on: reliable, efficient, secure, and easy to use. Within Storage, the Distributed Key Value team owns the storage platform that powers business-critical workloads across DoorDash, Wolt, and Deliveroo. These systems sit on the Tier-0 critical path. They serve millions of QPS across multiple regions and underpin how hundreds of engineering teams build reliable systems at massive scale. About the role DoorDash's storage abstraction platform is a unified data-access layer that sits in front of our databases and decouples application teams from the underlying storage engines, similar to modern data-gateway and key-value / time-series data-abstraction platforms. Nearly every request that touches persistent data flows through it. As DoorDash scales 10x–100x across new verticals, global expansion, and acquisitions, this platform is where the hardest distributed-storage problems live — latency at the tail, request routing, and reliability under exponential load. We're hiring a Staff Software Engineer to be the domain specialist for the storage abstraction platform: a deep, opinionated technical leader who owns the reliability, performance, and correctness of the platform at scale, sets its technical direction, and raises the execution bar across the storage organization.
