Autonomous agents now do real work across NVIDIA, and every piece underneath them keeps changing: models, harnesses, tools, skills, and plugins. Evaluation is how a team knows whether a change made an agent better or quietly made it worse. We're looking for a principal engineer to set evaluation strategy at every layer, from individual skills and MCP servers to whole agents and products, and to design how agents use those results to improve themselves. Agents can already rewrite the skills and plugins they run on, then test whether the change helped. Making that loop trustworthy is the hard part. What does it take for an agent to get better on its own, and prove the improvement is real? We're building a system that answers that question for every agent at NVIDIA. Come build it with us! What you'll be doing: Build evaluation that works the same across harnesses, with automated checks on every change that catch regressions before users do. Mine production traces for failures, new usage patterns, missing skills and tools, cost and latency hot spots, and successful runs. Turn them into eval cases and improvement signals. Evaluate the eval datasets themselves: coverage of real usage, duplicate cases, and how closely they match production. Build the self-improvement loop for evolving harnesses: agents propose changes to their own skills, plugins, and harness configuration, and sandboxed evals test each one. Only measurable gains ship, with human sign-off and limits agents can't change. Create realistic enterprise environments: sandboxed replicas of issue trackers, code repositories, chat, and internal APIs, filled with synthetic or anonymized data, where agents safely run long, end-to-end tasks. Measure multi-agent swarms as a team: how agents split work, whether handoffs succeed, and whether permissions hold at every hop. Record how long each task takes and how many token

POSITION SUMMARY Natera is seeking a Principal AI Engineer to set technical direction for, and hands-on build of, the Vector Store GenAI Platform that powers document intelligence and retrieval across our Real-World Data (RWD) organization. The platform ingests clinical documents from multiple sources, indexes them for high-quality search, and makes that content available to downstream AI workflows and business use cases across oncology and other clinical domains. This is a principal-level individual contributor role with architecture-plus-build ownership of retrieval, document processing, and ingestion systems. You will define platform strategy and sequencing, ship production code in a cloud environment, raise the reliability and quality of search and retrieval, and prove new approaches through POCs and benchmarks. You will partner with clinical, engineering, and product leaders to turn ambiguous priorities into a clear technical roadmap, establish standards for how retrieval serves agents and re-extraction workflows, and deliver measurable improvements in platform quality and operability—with high autonomy and limited day-to-day direction. The ideal candidate combines deep hands-on engineering with a track record of owning complex AI platforms end to end. You set direction, implement critical path yourself, and elevate the technical bar across the teams that consume and extend the platform. RESPONSIBILITIES Own platform architecture and hands-on delivery for the Vector Store GenAI Platform, including search and retrieval, document processing and chunking, ingestion pipelines, and APIs that serve downstream AI workflows. Set technical direction for hybrid search and retrieval quality; evaluate embedding models and retrieval approaches through working implementations, POCs, and benchmarks, and drive adoption of what works in production. Advance document parsing and chunking so clinical content is indexed in a way that supports accurate, structured, and faceted retri
Altana is the network for trusted trade. Our AI-powered product network empowers governments and businesses to build a more resilient and secure global economy while keeping trade flowing. The Opportunity at Altana The Engineering team is responsible for building out the product for bringing this vision to life. We are creating a platform fundamentally driven by AI, which scales to a massive trove of data, and a diverse customer base; it is a complex system that will stretch engineering in many directions. Shipping products that customers actually adopt, not just products that ship, takes a particular kind of engineering practice. It means starting inside the customer’s workflow rather than at the ticket. It means treating every release as a hypothesis you can prove or disprove. It means reaching for AI as a primary building block, not a feature you bolt on at the end. And it means owning a product end‑to‑end, from the first conversation through the telemetry six months later. As a Staff Engineer at Altana, that’s the work and you’ll lead others doing it. You’ll embed with product and design, get on calls with users, form hypotheses about where the real pain is, and lead a small team turning those hypotheses into shipped, adopted products. You’ll measure your work in customer outcomes, not commits. You Will Spend real time with customers. Sit alongside them in their workflows, watch where they get stuck, and translate what you learn into product bets your team is willing to ship behind. Partner with the product team to decide what to build, not just how . Form hypotheses about customer value, design the smallest experiment that could prove them out, and learn fast. Push back on briefs that aren’t grounded in evidence. Take new product surfaces from 0 to 1. Pitch, prototype, ship, and drive adoption with real users. It means treating every release as a hypothesis you can prove or disprove. It means reaching for AI as a primary building block, not a feature you bolt on at the end. And it means owning a product end‑to‑end, from the first conversation through product launch. You'll embed with product and design, make the day-to-day product and technical calls, and turn hypotheses about where the real pain is into shipped, adopted products. This is an engineering role first: leading the team adds to your own engineering leverage rather than replacing it. Your success is measured the same way the team's is: by the value it delivers to customers, how quickly and steadily it ships, and how well its systems hold up as output grows. You Will Ship, and set the technical bar. Hands-on engineering is a large share of this role. Own the team's architecture and quality standards, and be the last line of defense before work reaches customers. Own the problem, not just the ticket. Define the customer problem in your own words before choosing a solution, make the tactical product calls, and own a metric tied to a customer outcome. Go to the customer every week. Get on calls, review session recordi
