Synthesia is the world’s leading AI video platform for business, used by over 90% of the Fortune 100. Founded in 2017, the company is headquartered in London, with offices and teams across Europe and the US. As AI continues to shape the way we live and work, Synthesia develops products to enhance visual communication and enterprise skill development, helping people work better and stay at the center of successful organizations. Following our recent Series E funding round, where we raised $200 million, our valuation stands at $4 billion. Our total funding exceeds $530 million from premier investors including Accel, NVentures (Nvidia's VC arm), Kleiner Perkins, GV, and Evantic Capital, alongside the founders and operators of Stripe, Datadog, Miro, and Webflow. We're looking for a Solutions Engineering Manager to lead and grow our presales function in NYC. Reporting to our presales VP of Solutions Engineering, this is a founding leadership role where you'll help us establish the discipline from the ground up, shaping the playbook that drives your region's success while collaborating across the business to share best practices. As a Solutions Engineering Manager, you will have full ownership of your team's success; you'll be hiring and developing Solutions Engineers, while staying hands-on in the highest-impact deals in your market. You'll set the bar for how your team runs discovery, demos, Proofs of Concept, and technical evaluations. You'll regularly partner with Sales leadership, Product, Customer Success, and Product Marketing to connect your team's work to revenue outcomes. You'll own forecasting, performance, and the overall health of your market, collaborating with presales leadership on strategy and priorities. About the role: Recruitment and Development Hire, ramp, and develop a team of 5-10 Solutions Engineers (SEs)in your region, across experience levels, from mid-career to subject matter experts. Run regular 1:1s, deal reviews, and career development conversations, ensuring a high quality of discovery, demos, and technical evaluations across the team. Build a collaborative, inclusive team culture where Solutions Engineers support each other across deals, not just their own book. Execution Execute and reinforce Synthesia's core presales motions (research, discovery, demos, workshops, Proofs of Concept, champion building, and handover to customer success) with consistency across your team. Design and evolve Synthesia's demo methodology across Studio, Roleplay Sessions, and Interactive Avatars, so your team proves business value quickly regardless of use case. Build and maintain the presales toolkit for your team with Synthesia's product and operations teams for demo environments, reusable assets, evaluation guides, and objection handling; iterating where you see gaps for your market. Evangelize and drive consistent use of AI tools across your team, from call prep to demo delivery to turning discovery notes into follow-up documentation to improve win rate and deal size. Partner with Enablement and senior SEs in other markets to share what's working and avoid rebuilding the same assets twice. Own forecasting and pipeline hygiene for presales involvement in your market, and report on team performance, win rates, and Proofs of Concept throughput to presales leadership. Partner with Sales leadership on account and territory strategy, resourcing your team against the highest-value opportunities. Bring visibility to deal risk, timeline, and technical dependencies across your team's active opportunities, and unblock what your SEs can't unblock alone. Route field feedback, product gaps, and competitive intelligence from your team up to Product, Product Marketing, and SE leadership. Domain and Playbook expertise Design and evolve Synthesia's demo methodology across Studio, Roleplay Sessions, and Interactive Avatars. Use your experience in expert-level discovery, demonstrations, and Proofs of Concept scoping to coach SEs at every level. Build fluency in MEDDPICC and Command of the Message frameworks across your team through coaching on real-world application, not framework recitation. Deliver and coach Proofs of Concept and executive readouts as a business narrative, not a feature tour, holding the room with C-level audiences yourself when the deal calls for it. About you: Experience recruiting, managing, and developing Solution Engineering presales teams. You've owned the full employee life cycle from hiring through onboarding and promotions, across tenures from early stage to specialised individual contributors. You've done this with teams you've inherited, plus those you've built from scratch. Your path to leadership started as an IC executing straightforward opportunities against a playbook, then evolved into solving complex problems with product partners - ultimately building deep expertise in a specific business area or vertical. Track record of improving team performance through coaching, hands-on deal support, and consistent execution of an established presales process, not through reinventing it. Comfortable owning forecasting, pipeline hygiene, and performance reporting from a presales perspective, not mimicking the AE perspective. Fluent in MEDDPICC and Command of the Message, with the credibility to coach both new and experienced SEs on applying them. Clear, inclusive communicator who can flex from deep technical detail to executive-level value narratives, and can teach others to do the same. Collaborative leadership style, comfortable partnering with Sales, Product, Customer Success, and Product Marketing leadership as peers, not just stakeholders. Location: This role is hybrid (2 - 3 days a week in our NYC office depending on needs), and we offer 60 days "work from anywhere" annually.

About Gusto At Gusto, we're on a mission to grow the small business economy. We handle the hard stuff — payroll, health insurance, 401(k)s, and HR — so owners can focus on their craft and their customers. With teams in Denver, San Francisco, and New York, we support more than 500,000 small businesses nationwide and are building a workplace that reflects the people we serve. All full-time employees receive competitive base pay, benefits, and equity (RSUs) — because everyone who helps build Gusto should share in its success. Offer amounts are determined by role, level, and location. Learn more about our Total Rewards philosophy . AI is a fundamental part of how work gets done at Gusto. We expect all team members to actively engage with AI tools relevant to their role and grow their fluency as the technology evolves. AI experience requirements vary by role and will be assessed during the interview process. About the Team: Money Movement (MM) is a core Payments Engineering team responsible for actually moving money at Gusto — reliably, on time, and at scale. The team owns Gusto’s payment rails and the integrations behind them: ACH, wires, real-time payments, checks, and international and stablecoin rails through partners. MM owns the connections to partner banks and payment providers, the APIs that initiate credits and debits, the ingestion of incoming bank data, and the routing logic that selects the most efficient rail for each payment based on speed, cost, geography, currency, and regulatory requirements. The team also builds the operational tooling that Payment Operations depends on to stop, reverse, verify, and investigate payments. MM sits within the Payments org alongside the Financial Data and Payment Profile team. Where that team owns the source of truth for payment data and the customer-facing payment method experience, MM owns execution — the systems that hand money to a bank or partner and track it to settlement. The team operates tier-1 systems with clear reliability ownership, on-call responsibility, and defined SLOs measured across every rail, and is in the middle of extracting money movement out of the monolith into a standalone Payments Service with a rails-factory architecture and stable API contracts for upstream product teams. As an Engineering Manager on the Money Movement team, you’ll directly empower a team of engineers, supporting them in their continued growth and success. You’ll collaborate with a talented cross-functional team of Product, Design, and Data partners, along with Payment Operations, Accounting, and Treasury, focusing on payments infrastructure that customers can trust with their payroll. Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day: Develop the engineering team across the Money Movement domain to help build the long term vision of the payments team at Gusto. The leader will expand Gusto’s payment rails across the US and internationally while ensuring that our 500K+ businesses and millions of their employees are getting paid on time, every time. Lead, empower and coach a team across engineering for payments to i) drive technical guidance and consistent execution of the next generation of payment rails and money movement capabilities that enable Gusto to expand its product offerings; ii) recruit, hire, and onboard new engineering team members; iii) identify and address any roadblocks or challenges faced by the team; and iv) deliver scaled engineering solutions on time. Own reliable, efficient, compliant and cost effective end-to-end money movement across every rail — including on-call ownership, SLOs, and error budgets for tier-1 payment systems — and work cross-functionally with Payment Operations, Accounting and Treasury to de-risk any payments related issues with bank and provider partners. Drive the modularization of payments: lead the extraction of money movement into a standalone service with clean API contracts, so new rails can be added once at the platform layer instead of being re-integrated by every product team. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence within the team. In addition, collaborate and communicate with senior management and stakeholders to develop and execute long-term strategies for Gusto’s engineering department Develop and maintain strong relationships with cross-functional teams, including product, design, data science, and the upstream product teams that depend on payments, to make tradeoffs that build customer trust Here’s what we're looking for: 8+ years of relevant hands-on programming experience 3+ years of engineering management experience Experience managing a Payments platform team Comfortable guiding the team strategically as well as contributing hands on where it’s needed to support the team. Expect to be reviewing code, and coding where it’s needed to move the team along. Experience with growing and managing talent with varied experience level Comfortable navigating a complex and ambiguous problem space, and asking for help and clarification when needed Willingness to debate and commit Experience in shipping a cross-functional projects and driving business growth A desire to grow and learn on the job Completed a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline; higher education preferred Stays informed about AI capabilities relevant to engineering teams and thoughtfully incorporates them into workflows, tooling, and decision-making. highly available, horizontally scalable systems, and continuing to reduce blast radius and improve the resilience of the databases we already operate. Our cash compensation amount for this role is targeted at $183,000-$200,000 /yr in Denver & most remote locations, and $222,000-$245,000 /yr for San Francisco, Seattle & New York. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above. Gusto has physical office spaces in Denver, San Francisco, and New York City. Employees who are based in those locations will be expected to work from the office on designated days approximately 2-3 days per week (or more depending on role). The same office expectations apply to all Symmetry roles, Gusto's subsidiary, whose physical office is in Scottsdale. Note: The San Francisco office expectations encompass both the San Francisco and San Jose metro areas. When approved to work from a location other than a Gusto office, a secure, reliable, and consistent internet connection is required. This includes non-office days for hybrid employees. Our customers come from all walks of life and so do we. We hire great people from a wide variety of backgrounds, not just because it's the right thing to do, but because it makes our company stronger. If you share our values and our enthusiasm for small businesses, you will find a home at Gusto. Gusto is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We do not discriminate in hiring or any employment decision based on race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex (including pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions), marital status, ancestry, physical or mental disability, genetic information, veteran status, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, or other applicable legally protected characteristic. Gusto considers qualified applicants with criminal histories, consistent with applicable federal, state and local law. Gusto is also committed to providing reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities and disabled veterans in our job application procedures. About Us: AI needs a new infrastructure layer. We're building it at Modal. Every era of computing brought new workloads that previous infrastructure couldn't support: mainframes, databases, and the cloud. Each time, the company that rebuilt the layer underneath defined the decade. AI is no different, except it touches everything instead of one slice, and the window to build the layer underneath it is open right now. Our customers include category-defining companies like Lovable , Ramp , Cognition, DoorDash, and Suno. They rely on Modal for instant GPU access, sub-second container starts, and native storage, so it's simple to serve low-latency inference, fine-tune models, and access production-ready sandboxes at scale. We recently raised a $355M Series C at a $4.65B valuation, led by General Catalyst and Redpoint Ventures. We've crossed $300M+ ARR and grown fivefold since September. Our team includes creators of popular open-source projects (e.g., Seaborn , Luig i ), academic researchers, international olympiad medalists, and experienced engineering and product leaders with decades of experience. The Role We're looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a team of highly experienced engineers building the infrastructure that powers Modal's serverless GPU platform. This is a hands-on leadership role — expect to split your time between technical contribution and people management depending on what the team needs. You'll set direction, remove blockers, and build a strong engineering culture as your team tackles hard problems in distributed computing, large-scale data handling, and performance optimization. Who You Are You're an experienced engineering leader who stays close to the work and builds alongside your team when it counts. You earn trust through technical depth, not title. You communicate clearly, help strong engineers move fast without cutting corners, and stay calm and pragmatic under pressure. You care as much about how your team gets to an answer as the answer itself. Responsibilities Team Recruit, hire, and grow a high-performing team of cloud platform engineers; run regular 1:1s focused on coaching, feedback, and career growth. Set clear performance expectations, hold a high bar, and build an environment where engineers do their best work. Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement. Technical Direction Drive day-to-day technical decisions through design reviews, code reviews, and architectural discussions. Translate the infrastructure roadmap into clear team priorities and milestones, and hold execution against them. Establish standards for reliability, performance, and operational excellence; ensure the team owns projects end-to-end, from spec through production. Push for good judgment on tooling and architecture, with a bias against unnecessary complexity. Cross-Functional & Incident Leadership Partner with product and engineering to align infrastructure work with business priorities; represent your team's progress, capacity, and tradeoffs clearly to leadership. Serve as the escalation point for major incidents; drive resolution with urgency and ensure the team learns systematically, feeding those learnings back into infrastructure improvements. Requirements 10+ years of industry experience, including 3+ years in a leadership role Track record building high-performance distributed systems at scale Strong background in cloud infrastructure Deep knowledge of low-level OS foundations (Linux kernel, file systems, containers, etc.) Proficiency in a systems-level language (Rust, C, C++, or Java)

Who We Are Notion is the collaborative AI workspace where teams and agents think together . We're building one place where your knowledge, projects, meetings, and AI tools live side by side, so work is faster, clearer, and less fragmented. Millions of individuals, small teams, and large companies run their work on Notion. Notinos (our employees) are customer zero in bringing this future of work to life. We care about craft, building things that last, and the belief that great work is still fundamentally human. Our goal isn’t to ship the next feature. Each and every team of Notinos is working to set the standard for how humans work together in the AI era. From building a business’s system of record to making and managing AI agents to automating away the busy work, we care deeply about giving our customers more time for their life’s work. About the Role You’ll lead the Mobile AI engineering team, responsible for making Notion AI genuinely useful on phones and tablets. Mobile is where AI needs to work in the moment: when users are capturing ideas, catching up between meetings, asking questions, or trying to move work forward away from their desk. This role can be based in either San Francisco or New York City. We work from our offices on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays (our Anchor Days) because we do our best thinking and building together in person. We’re looking for someone who’s excited to work alongside the team during those days. What You'll Achieve Define and evolve the roadmap for Notion’s core mobile AI surfaces, including chat, capture, agent workflows, workspace Q&A, and lightweight creation flows. Take new mobile AI ideas from exploration to shipped product, using prototypes, user feedback, and product data to decide what to build next. Improve the production quality of mobile AI by identifying instrumentation gaps, reliability risks, and performance bottlenecks before they become user problems. Help the team build the right technical foundations for fast iteration across mobile, web, and server boundaries. Skills You'll Need to Bring Engineering leadership: You have 2+ years managing engineering teams and have helped teams ship high-quality products at scale. Hands-on technical leadership: You stay close enough to the code to guide architecture, performance, reliability, and release-quality decisions — and can make small contributions when it helps the team move faster. AI product curiosity: You don’t need to be an AI researcher, but you are hands-on with AI tools and curious about how AI changes product development, engineering workflows, and user expectations. Execution through ambiguity: You can turn open-ended product bets into clear strategy, sequencing, staffing, and delivery. Cross-functional leadership: You work well with across different functions to define problems and ship polished outcomes. People leadership: You recruit, coach, and grow engineers, build an inclusive team, and communicate clearly through disagreement. Nice to Haves You’ve led teams building AI product experiences involving streaming UX, tool use, voice or multimodal input, evaluation loops, or reliability guardrails. You’ve managed teams through 0→1 product development or fast iteration on new product surfaces. You have experience with mobile platform concerns such as offline resilience, realtime collaboration, rich-text editing, app performance, or release quality at scale. You’ve led teams delivering end-to-end product experiences across mobile, web, and server boundaries. Notion is committed to providing highly competitive cash compensation, equity, and benefits. The compensation offered for this role will be based on multiple factors such as location, the role’s scope and complexity, and the candidate’s experience and expertise, and may vary from the range provided below. For roles based in New York City, the estimated base salary range for this role is $255k - $290k per year. By clicking “Submit Application”, I understand and agree that Notion and its affiliates and subsidiaries will collect and process my information in accordance with Notion’s Global Recruiting Privacy Policy and NYLL 144 . #LI-Onsite A Note on AI You don’t need deep AI expertise for every role, but we do expect every Notino to be intellectually curious, drawn to tinkering and discovery, and excited to use AI as a real collaborator in their work. For some roles, AI fluency is a core requirement — when that’s the case, we'll say so explicitly in the qualifications. People who thrive here don’t treat AI as a novelty. They use it to think better, and make their work easier for others to build on. Equal Opportunity & Accommodations We hire talented people from a wide range of backgrounds. If you’re excited about this role but don’t meet every bullet, we still encourage you to apply. Notion is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of any legally protected characteristic. Consistent with applicable law, we will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records. Notion provides reasonable accommodations during the application process; if you need one, please let your recruiter know. Notion is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
